Product Usage Instructions:
Installation Steps:
Step 1: Determine Door Orientation
Determine if the door should be left-hinged (View A) or
right-hinged (View B) based on your preference or installation
requirements.
Step 2A: Left Side Mounting
- Mount the Side Bracket on the left side of the wall opening,
ensuring it is vertical. - Secure with four #8 x 1 1/4 pan-head screws with hinge tabs
pointing upward.
Step 3A: Install Door
Engage the door with three tabs on the Side Bracket and ensure
it is against the mounting bracket.
Step 4A: Close Door and Mark Reference Line
Close the door and draw a horizontal reference line on the wall
at the latch mounting hole center.
Step 5A: Attach Latch Bracket
Align the latch bracket with the reference line and secure with
two #18 x 1 1/4 screws without tightening.
Step 6A: Finalize Installation
Slide the bracket upward, tighten the mounting screws, and
adjust the latch arm for a secure installation. Install the
filter.
Right Side Mounting (Steps 2B to 6B):
Follow similar steps as detailed above but mount the Side
Bracket on the right side of the wall opening.

Q: What are the dimensions of the Return Air Grille / Access

A: The grille/access panel has dimensions of 58″ Tall x 29″
Wide.
Q: Is a filter included in the kit?
A: No, a 25 x 20 filter is not included in the kit. It needs to
be field supplied separately.
Q: How do I determine whether to use left or right hinge
mounting?

mechanism operation
Frame and sheetrock the access hole to 27″ wide and 55 3/4″ tall. The bottom of the opening should be at the same level as the floor or subbase. The chassis must fit thru this opening. The chassis is 23 1/8″ wide and 32 1/4″ or 47″ tall (consult chassis specifications for actual dimensions).

Step 1
Determine the orientation of the door.
The VPRG4/VPRG4R Kit comes with two mounting hinges. For VPRG4, one of the hinges mounts to the left side of the opening and locates the return air openings at the lower portion of the door (View A).
The other mounts the hinge to the right side of the opening and locates the return air openings at the upper portion of the door (View B).
This provides an option for the direction that the door will open. In some cases, it can aid in sound attenuation by locating the return air openings away from the evaporator opening on the unit.
Follow STEPS 2A through 6A (next page) for left side mounting (View A)
Follow STEPS 2B through 6B (next page) for right side mounting (View B).

NOTE: VPRG4R is a right hinged door that locates the return air openings at the lower portion of the door. Follow the same installation method specified below.
Step 2A
Mount the Side Bracket to the left side of the wall opening. The Side Bracket must be plumb (vertical). Secure with four #8 x 11/4″ pan-head screws. NOTE: Hinge tabs must point upward.
Step 3A
Install door onto the Side Bracket. Be sure that the access door has engaged the three tabs, and the door is against the side mounting bracket.

Close the door. Draw a temporary horizontal reference line on the wall adjacent to the center of the latch mounting hole.

Slide the bracket upward and tighten the mounting screws.

Step 5A
Attach the latch bracket to the opening, aligning the bottom of the bracket with the reference line. Use two #18 x 11/4 screws. Do not tighten.
