- To register FortiAP, FortiSwitch, and FortiExtender devices, follow these straightforward steps:
- Access the Support Portal: Visit the Fortinet Support Portal at https://support.fortinet.com.
- Register Devices: Register each device with its corresponding management license (if applicable).
- View in FortiEdge Cloud: After registration, the devices will automatically appear in the FortiEdge Cloud interface, ready for deployment into virtual networks.

How do I Add/Enable UTP (Unified Threat Protection) License to FortiAP
- After registering your FortiAP with its advanced management license, follow these steps to add the UTP (Unified Threat Protection) license:
- Access the Support Portal: Log in to the Fortinet Support Portal at https://support.fortinet.com.
- Add UTP License: Locate your registered FortiAP and add the UTP license to it.
- Activation: Once activated, the license entitlement will be automatically distributed to FortiGuard servers worldwide.
- From FortiEdge Cloud, Configure SSID: The UTP settings will be available within the SSID configuration options.
Why is the price of FortiCare within FortiEdge Cloud less expensive than FortiCare Premium offered on FortiGate managed APs?
- The FortiEdge Cloud subscription is more cost-effective than FortiCare Premium because Fortinet owns and manages a significant portion of the infrastructure. With the cloud-based solution, Fortinet can quickly identify and resolve issues as they arise, thanks to the direct control over the underlying infrastructure. In contrast, an on-premises deployment requires the customer to own and maintain the entire infrastructure. This makes it more challenging for Fortinet to troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively, as they do not have direct access to the customer’s infrastructure.

Is FortiEdge Cloud a new product?
Yes, FortiEdge cloud combines FortiAP, FortiSwitch and FortiExtender management into a single platform adding new features and creating a framework for future enhancements of our stand-alone deployments
Is FortiCare included in the subscription?
Yes, FortiCare Premium is included in the subscription as long as the product is being managed from FortiEdge Cloud.
What happens when the subscription is expiring?
Upon the expiration of a valid subscription, a generous two-month grace period is provided to facilitate a seamless renewal process. This grace period ensures uninterrupted service and allows ample time for you to review and renew your subscription without disruption. If the subscription is not renewed within the grace period, the platform’s behavior will depend on your current device quota. Suppose the deployed device count is below the Freemium tier’s quota. In that case, the devices will be automatically transitioned to the Freemium tier, enabling you to continue managing them with the platform’s basic features until you decide to renew or upgrade your subscription. However, if your device count exceeds the Freemium tier’s quota, the devices will be restricted from being managed through the cloud platform until an active subscription is renewed. This measure ensures compliance with the platform’s licensing terms and encourages timely subscription renewals to maintain uninterrupted access to the full suite of enterprise-grade features and capabilities.
What happens for customers transitioning from FortiLAN Cloud and above the new Freemium?
To ensure a seamless transition for customers migrating from FortiLAN Cloud to FortiEdge Cloud, a grace period has been established until the release of FortiEdge Cloud 25.1, which is anticipated in March 2025. During this grace period, existing customers can continue leveraging their current licensing and entitlements without interruption. However, starting with the 25.1 release, all new licensing models and policies will take immediate effect. Customers will be required to align with the updated licensing structure to continue benefiting from the full suite of features and capabilities offered by FortiEdge Cloud.
Does the MSSP license work for FortiAP, FortiSwitch and FortiExtender?
