How do I Add/Enable UTP (Unified Threat Protection) License to FortiAP

After registering your FortiAP with its advanced management license, follow these steps to add the UTP (Unified Threat Protection) license: 1. Access the Support Portal: Log in to the Fortinet Support Portal at https://support.fortinet.com. 2. Add UTP License: Locate your registered FortiAP and add the UTP license to it. 3. Activation: Once activated, the license entitlement will be automatically distributed to FortiGuard servers worldwide. 4. Why is the price of FortiCare within FortiEdge Cloud less expensive than FortiCare Premium offered on FortiGate managed APs?

The FortiEdge Cloud subscription is more cost-effective because Fortinet owns and manages a significant portion of the infrastructure. With the cloud-based solution, Fortinet can quickly identify and resolve issues as they arise due to direct control over the underlying infrastructure. In contrast, an on-premises deployment requires the customer to own and maintain the entire infrastructure, making it more challenging for Fortinet to troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively.

It's important to note that the FortiCare Premium included in the FortiEdge Cloud subscription is only applicable when the device is used in conjunction with the FortiEdge Cloud service.

What happens when the subscription is expiring?

Upon expiration of a valid subscription, a two-month grace period is provided for renewal. If not renewed within this period, the platform's behavior depends on the current device quota. If the deployed device count is below the Freemium tier's quota, devices will transition to the Freemium tier. If the device count exceeds the Freemium tier's quota, devices will be restricted from cloud management until the subscription is renewed.

What happens for customers transitioning from FortiLAN Cloud and above the new Freemium?

A grace period has been established for customers migrating from FortiLAN Cloud to FortiEdge Cloud until the release of FortiEdge Cloud 25.1 (anticipated March 2025). During this period, existing customers can continue using current licensing. Starting with the 25.1 release, new licensing models and policies will take effect, requiring alignment with the updated structure.

Is there a managed service provider (MSSP) license?

Yes, there is a Multi-Tenancy license for FortiEdge and FortiGate Cloud.

Does the MSSP license work for FortiAP, FortiSwitch and FortiExtender?

Is FortiEdge Cloud having multiple regions?

Can I add a unit that is registered into another FortiCare account into FortiEdge Cloud?
