How to maintain your FELCO tool
Sharpen your tool in the course of the day or when it becomes dull. Use of a FELCO 903 sharpener
- Sharpen the edge.
- Pressure on the edge.
- Remove the burr.
Adjusting
Adjust your tool in the course of the day or when required. Use of a FELCO 2/30 adjustment key:
- Remove the spring.
- Free locking segment.
- Adjust the tightness.
- . Block locking segment.
- Fully open and release.
- Blade crossing should be between 1/2 & 2/3.
- Spring is back in place.
Cleaning & Oiling
Clean and oil your FELCO tool at the end of the day. Use of FELCO 980 oil and FELCO 981 cleaner:
- If wet, dry with cloth
- Spray the cutting head with cleaning spray.
- Use adjustment key to scrape sap off the blade.
- …off the sap grove…
- …and off the anvil blade edge.
- Spray oil.
How to maintain your FELCO tool
Complete Cleaning
A complete cleaning of your FELCO tool, including dismantling and greasing, should be done at least once each season:
- Use a metal brush to remove dirt & rust from the cutting head.
- Remove the spring.
- Unlock the locking segment.
- Unscrew and remove the nut.
- Remove the blade.
- Brush all metallic surfaces to remove dirt & rust.
- Use cleaning spray on the blade & anvil blade.
- Use an adjustment key to scrape dirt and rust from the blade and anvil blade.
- Finish cleaning the blade and an anvil blade with an abrasive sponge.
- All components are clean and ready to be reassembled.
- Fix the anvil blade then grease the external surface.
- Load the grease pocket.
- Grease the external side of the blade before assembly.
- Place the bolt and load it with grease.
- Finish cutting head assembly.
- Adjust the cutting head and then place the spring.
- Oil cutting head and spring.
- Complete!
