1. Introduction

This product is a product that connects to a device with an operating system, such as a PC, and reads information sent from the PC in Braille. The purpose of the product is to be mounted on a kiosk so that blind people who know Braille can use the keypad to read the information they are currently browsing in Braille as they use the kiosk, and the product has eight Braille cells.

2. description of appearance and how to use it

2.1. Top

The top of the product has eight braille cells in the centre of the top face, with one button to the left of the braille cells, one button to the right of the braille cells, and one button on each side of the braille cells.

2.1.1. 8 Braille cells

The eight Braille cells are where information sent from the PC is printed in Braille.

2.1.2. Go to previous braille line button

The button to the left of the braille cell is the Go to previous braille line button. If you want to reread the previous braille content, pressing this button will move the braille line to the previous one and print it out.

2.1.3. Go to next braille line button

The button to the right of the braille cell is the Go to Next Braille Line button. If you have finished reading the current braille line and want to read the next line, pressing this button will jump to the next braille line and print it.

2.2. Top Side

There are two USB-C type ports on the top side of the product, one on the left and one on the right.

2.2.1. USB-C Type Power Supply Port

The USB-C type port on the left is the power port. Connect one end of the USB-C type cable to the product’s power supply port and the other end to the DC 15V/3A USB-C adapter, then plug the adapter into an outlet to instantly power the product.

2.2.2. USB-C Type Data Transfer Port

The USB-C type port on the right is a data transfer port. You can connect to a device with an operating system, such as a PC, to send and receive data. The separately provided software must be installed on the PC to operate the product. Here’s how to connect your product to your PC

Right tick Connect one end of the USB-C type cable to the product’s data transfer port and the other end to your PC.
Right tick On your PC, launch Device Manager by pressing the Windows key and searching for ‘Device Manager’.
Right tick Open the ports (COM & LPT) from the Device Manager list.
Right tick Check the product’s port number under Ports (COM & LPT). (If you already have multiple
Right tick ports connected and are unsure which one is the product’s port number, remove the data transfer cable and reconnect it to see which one is generated).
Right tick Run the software you installed on your PC.
Right tick Set it to the port number that you verified in Device Manager, and the product can connect.

5. handling and safety precautions

The contents of this manual may differ from the actual product depending on the firmware version, model, and specifications of the product. Do not use the product for any purpose other than its intended use. Be careful not to subject the product to shock, as this may cause damage.

– Keep the product dry – it may not function properly if used in damp areas or if it gets wet.
– Your product contains built-in magnets. Keep it away from other magnetic products or metal objects. There is a risk of damage to the product.
– If used in dusty areas, debris can get inside and interfere with operation.
– Use accessories provided by Dot Inc. Using non-original products may cause the product to malfunction and may not be covered by the warranty provided by Dot.
– If you apply pressure from the outside while the braille cell is in motion, the product may not function properly. If this happens, it is not a malfunction and you should release it and try again.
– If the product is used upside down, it may not represent the correct braille.
– To better serve you, some product specifications are subject to change without notice.
– If you arbitrarily change the firmware, etc. provided by Dot, Inc. or apply it to the product through unofficial channels, it may cause damage to the product or cause errors. In this case, the warranty service is not applicable.

Use it with safety in the following situations

1. [Lightning and Lightning Beware].
Do not use the product during severe lightning or thunderstorms, and disconnect the power source. Personal injury or fire may result.

2. [Beware of Forbidden Zones] Avoid use in areas where product use is prohibited, such as airplanes and hospitals. Electronic and communication products may be affected by electromagnetic waves.

3. [Disassembly Caution].
Do not attempt to disassemble or shock the product. There is a risk of electric shock, electric leakage, or fire. Warranty service will not be honoured if the product is disassembled. Do not use the product in a damaged or malfunctioning condition. This may cause fire, burns, or electric shock. In this case, contact customer service.

4. [Power Attention] Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to the device and not wobbly before using it. Do not bend, pull, heat, cut, or use the cable loose. This can cause a fire or electric shock. When disconnecting the adapter, grasp the adapter by the appropriate adapter area. If you remove the adapter by pulling on the wires, the wires may break and cause the power adapter to fail.

5. [Caution for high temperature and humidity].
Do not use the product in high temperature and humidity. If water gets into the product, turn it off and dry it thoroughly before using it. Do not place it near a car window in direct sunlight, on a futon, electrical board, carpet for a long time, or in a high temperature and humidity environment. It may deform its appearance, malfunction, or explode. If the product temperature rises rapidly, stop using the product and contact a service centre.

6. [Chemical Caution] Never use chemicals such as alcohol or benzene to clean the product. They can cause a fire. If there is any foreign matter on the product, wipe it with a soft cloth.

7. [Beware of metals and magnets] Keep away from metals such as necklaces, keys, coins, nails, watches, etc. If a metal object short-circuits the terminals, there is a risk of explosion.

8. [Be careful with children/pets] Keep the product, parts, etc. out of the reach of children and pets. Putting them in the mouth or impacting them can cause hazards such as electric shock or electromagnetic exposure. Take care in storage to prevent children or pets from swallowing the product, parts, etc. There is a risk of suffocation, explosion, or fire.

9. [Beware of Dangerous Areas] Do not use the product in hazardous areas. It may affect high-frequency devices. Do not place in an unsecured location, such as a shaky or inclined area, as it may fall and cause injury.

10. [Fire Caution] Do not cover or wrap it in a blanket while in use or charging. Do not dispose of with regular garbage. It may cause fire, explosion, or environmental damage.

11. [Avoid skin damage].
Prolonged use of the product may cause the surface of the product to reach a temperature above the appropriate level, and prolonged contact with the skin in this condition may result in cold burns, including spots and pigmentation, so stop using the product for a while. If the exterior paint peels off or you experience an allergic reaction depending on the product material, stop using the product immediately and consult a doctor.

12. [Archive Caution].
When storing the product’s power adapter, make sure that the USB cable is not severely folded or kinked. Storing or using the USB cable with a severely folded or kinked USB cable may cause the USB cable sheath to strip or break, resulting in a malfunction or accident.

13. [shock alert].
The product may be subject to shock if you apply strong force to it or place heavy objects on it. When not in use, store the product in a safe place to avoid shock.
