Tridonic 4service NFC App Quick Start Guide
Introduction
The 4service NFC app by Tridonic provides a streamlined method for configuring and analyzing Tridonic LED Drivers. This tool is designed to simplify the tasks of installation engineers, maintenance officers, and other professionals in related fields.
What the 4service NFC App Can Be Used For
The app allows for the configuration of various driver functions, provided they are supported by the specific LED Driver:
Setting Driver Parameters
- LED Output Current: Adjust the LED output current (in mA) to control brightness.
- Device Operating Mode: Select the operating mode, such as DALI, corridorFUNCTION, or chronoSTEP.
- DALI Addressing: Set the DALI short address for the driver.
- corridorFUNCTION: Configure parameters for the corridorFUNCTION, including light level and fade times.
- chronoSTEP: Set up chronoSTEP profiles.
Transferring Driver Parameter Settings
The app's copy function enables quick and easy duplication of a device's settings to identical devices. This is particularly useful for replacing faulty devices and commissioning multiple identical luminaires efficiently.
Transferring Configurations from deviceGENERATOR
Users can transfer configuration files created with the deviceGENERATOR (files with a *.trgf extension) to LED Drivers using the app.
Driver Analysis
In case of an LED Driver malfunction, the data memory can be read out, allowing for an initial on-site analysis of the potential causes.
Prerequisites for Using the 4service NFC App
To use the 4service NFC App, the following are required:
- An LED driver with an NFC interface from Tridonic.
- An NFC scanner supporting Zhaga Book 25 (NFC readers with a Bluetooth® interface for in-field programming). Alternatively, the internal NFC reader on compatible Android smartphones can be used.
- An active internet connection is required for the initial use and for updates. While not strictly necessary for ongoing operation, an up-to-date device-specific data is crucial for proper app functionality.
- Driver functions protected by a password set by the luminaire manufacturer cannot be changed using the app.
Starting Screen Overview
The app's starting screen provides access to key functions:
- Settings: Access the settings menu.
- Update: Displays the last update time for the device list. Updates occur automatically when new devices are available.
- Internal NFC antenna: Enables the use of the smartphone's internal NFC antenna to read and program Tridonic Drivers. The smartphone should be placed on the marked area of the driver.
- Connect Bluetooth® device: Connect an external NFC reader (e.g., Tertium reader).
- Scan QR code: Scan QR codes found on Tridonic LED Drivers and other products to obtain more information.
To program a driver, you can either use your phone's internal NFC antenna or connect an external NFC reader via Bluetooth®.
Connecting a Bluetooth® NFC Reader
- Press the Bluetooth® button on the starting screen.
- Connect to the Bluetooth® reader by pressing on its name in the app. The app will display available Bluetooth® NFC readers.
Once connected, the app will show the currently connected NFC reader. You can disconnect the reader from the smartphone via the 'Disconnect Bluetooth®' option. To read out a Tridonic device, press the 'Read' button and place the NFC Reader on the marked area of the driver.
Reading Out and Programming a Driver
To read out or program a driver, either press the internal NFC antenna button on the starting screen or connect an external NFC reader and press the 'Read' button. The app will prompt you to hold your phone or NFC reader next to the marked area on the driver. The phone will vibrate upon a successful connection, and the driver's data will be read out.
Product Details Screen
After a successful read-out, a 'Product details' screen will appear, displaying:
- Product Name: e.g., LCO 40/200-1050/64 PD+ NF C PRE3
- Article Number: e.g., 87500830
- Product Picture: A visual representation of the driver.
- Link to the data sheet: Access detailed technical specifications.
- Product website: A link to the product page on the Tridonic homepage.
- Configuration Preview: Shows current settings like LED Current, Operating Mode, and Device Data (logging information).
Function Menu
The function menu allows for driver settings modification. Options include:
- Share .traf file: Create a *.traf file for use in the deviceANALYZER.
- Copy device: Copy settings to another device with the same article code.
- Edit configuration: Access the configuration menu to modify settings.
- Write configuration file: Load and write *.trgf files created with deviceGENERATOR to the driver.
Editing Configuration
Within the 'Edit configuration' menu, users can modify:
- chronoSTEP: Adjust parameters for the chronoSTEP function.
- corridorFUNCTION: Change parameters for the corridorFUNCTION.
- LED current: Modify the output current.
- Addressing: Assign a DALI short address.
- Operating mode: Change the driver's operating mode.
- Load Configuration File: Load a *.trgf file and write it to the driver.
After making changes, press 'Write to device' to apply the new configuration.
Writing on a Driver
To program a driver, hold your phone next to the marked NFC area of the driver and press the 'Ready' button. A program counter will indicate the progress. After programming is complete, you can verify the programming after a mains cycle or program another driver.
