    Question

How do I fix my Clocky if the hours and minutes buttons are not responding when trying to set the time?

    Answer

If your Clocky is not allowing you to change the hours or minutes, please try the following troubleshooting steps based on the official manual and support guidelines:

    • Verify Battery Type: Clocky specifically recommends using new Duracell Lithium AAA batteries. The manufacturer notes that other brands may have slight size variations that cause power connection issues, and Alkaline batteries are not recommended.
    • Check Battery Polarity: Ensure the batteries are inserted exactly as shown on the labels inside the compartment, as Clocky's polarity configuration may differ from other devices.
    • Enter Set Mode Correctly: To set the current time, you must first press the 't' button once. The screen should start flashing. Only while the screen is flashing will the 'h' (hour) and 'm' (minute) buttons function to advance the time.
    • Test the Buttons: Try pressing and holding the 'h' or 'm' buttons to see if the numbers advance faster. If the screen is flashing but the numbers still do not move, there may be a hardware issue with the buttons.
    • Run Demo Mode: To check if the internal computer is responsive, press the 'a' and 't' buttons simultaneously. This will trigger the demo mode and move the wheels.

If the buttons remain unresponsive after these steps, the manufacturer suggests contacting them at team@clocky.com with details about the problem for further warranty or repair assistance.

  2. I can’t get the display screen with the time to be lit up all the time so I can see it. I have the time set. Everything seems to be working, but I really need to see the screen and can’t see anything at all unless I press the time button and it lights for 3 seconds and then goes dark again. Help!

    Manuals+ clarified question
    Question

How can I keep the Clocky display screen lit up all the time?

    Answer

Based on the Clocky instruction manual and official support documentation, the display screen is designed to be backlit only temporarily when a button is pressed. There is no setting to keep the backlight permanently illuminated.

The backlight typically stays on for a few seconds (such as when you press the 't' button to check the time) to conserve battery life, as the device runs on 4 AAA lithium batteries. If you are having difficulty seeing the screen at all without the backlight, ensure that:

    • Batteries are fresh: The manufacturer strongly recommends using new Duracell Lithium batteries. Alkaline batteries may cause the display to be dim or reset prematurely.
    • Check Polarity: Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to the labels inside the compartment, as Clocky's polarity configuration can differ from other devices.

If the screen is completely blank (no digits visible) unless the light is on, this may indicate low battery power or a technical fault. However, the 3-second auto-off behavior for the light itself is the standard operation for this product.

    Question

How can I open the battery compartment if the screws are stripped or stuck?

    Answer

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulty with the battery compartment screws on your Clocky. Because Manuals+ is a repository for instruction manuals and is not the manufacturer or the seller (Amazon), we cannot directly process exchanges or refunds.

Based on the official Clocky support documentation, here are the recommended steps for this situation:

    • Contact Clocky Support: Since this involves a potential hardware defect (stripped screws) on a new unit, you should email the manufacturer directly at team@clocky.com. They request that you explain the problem in detail so they can assist with warranty or replacement options.
    • Amazon Support: Since the purchase was made on Amazon, you should also continue your correspondence through the Amazon Message Center to request a replacement for a defective item.
    • Opening the Door: The manual specifies using a small screwdriver. If the screw head is stripped, ensure you are using a precision screwdriver that fits snugly. If the screw is spinning but not coming out, the internal threads may be damaged, which is a manufacturing issue covered under warranty.

Please refer to the Clocky Warranty page for more information on their replacement policy for defective units.

    Question

How do I change Clocky to 12-hour mode or see the AM/PM indicator?

    Answer

To change the time format on your Clocky, follow these steps:

    • Switching between 12 and 24-hour mode: Press and hold the 't' button for 3 seconds.
    • Identifying AM/PM: In 12-hour mode, look for the PM sign on the display. If the PM sign is absent, the clock is in AM mode.

Note: If you are currently in 12-hour mode during an AM hour, you may not see an immediate visual change when switching to 24-hour mode until the time reaches 13:00 (1:00 PM).

    Question

How do I troubleshoot my Clocky when the buttons are not allowing me to set the time or alarm and the alarm triggers unexpectedly?

    Answer

It sounds like your Clocky may be experiencing a power or internal logic error. Please try the following steps to reset and troubleshoot the device:

    • Perform a Hard Reset: Remove all batteries. Wait for at least 1 minute to allow the internal memory to clear, then re-insert them.
    • Check Battery Type: The manufacturer strongly recommends using only new Duracell Lithium AAA batteries. Standard alkaline batteries often have slight size variations or lower voltage that can cause the display to reset or buttons to malfunction.
    • Verify Polarity: Ensure the batteries are inserted exactly as shown on the labels inside the compartment, as Clocky's polarity configuration can differ from other standard devices.
    • Check for Demo Mode: If the clock is behaving erratically, you may have accidentally entered Demo Mode. Press the 'A' and 'T' buttons simultaneously to toggle this mode or stop current movement.
    • Standard Setting Procedure: To set the time, press 'T' once (the screen should flash); use 'H' and 'M' to adjust. To set the alarm, press 'A' once (the screen should flash); use 'H' and 'M' to adjust.

If the 'T' button continues to trigger the alarm instead of flashing the time display after a battery reset, the internal switch may be damaged, and you should contact team@clocky.com for warranty support.
