For a  correct usage of the product, please read carefully the following operating instructions. It is advisable to save this instruction manual for a future usage.

USE AND REFERENCE STANDARD
This digital electric thermometer model Basic Temp (DT-01B) is suitable to take body temperature for clinical and hospital use as well as for home use, as long as medical or paramedical staff are not required to be present at all times. The device is designed for oral, axillary or rectal use strictly in compliance with the Instructions specified in this manual. Any Use different from the use specified will be deemed improper use. The product complies with the following Euro-pean standards: 93/42/CEE and to related EN harmonized standard. The digital electric thermometer model Basic Temp (DT-01B) is a medical device according to Clause 3.2, Section 3, Rule 10 of Directive 93/42/EEC.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Never bite, bend, drop or disassemble the thermometer. Keep the product out of children reach. Do not expose the thermometer to direct sunlight, high temperature, moisture or dirt. This Thermometer has been designed exclusively for taking body temperature; any other use is improper and therefore dangerous.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the unit,except for replacing empty battery.
  • In case of persistent high temperature, especially for children, please contact your family doctor.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR

A PROPER USAGE
Before starting using the product, disinfect the probe with a  cloth dampen with alcohol diluted with water. The measurement must be processed while sitting. Before using the product,it is advisable to avoid drinking hot or cold liquids, exercising, smoking, and taking a bath or a shower. Press the switch on button and the display will show: 188.8 °C for about 3 seconds, after that no flashing symbol L °C appears, and soon after flashing symbol L °C, the thermometer is ready to measure tempera-ture. During the measurement, you can see the increasing temperature value on the display. Once the measurement has ended, you hear 4 beep sounds. Switch the unit off pressing the button. (The unit will automatically switch it-self off after 10 minutes of non-usage).

  • Oral usage: before taking the temperature, keep your mouth closed for 1 minute .
  • Place the probe under your tongue, close your mouth. When the temperature is detected device will emit 4 beep alarms. Temperature detected is between 0.3 °C e 0.8 °C lower that rectal measurement. Measurement duration lasts from 50 to 70 seconds.
  • Axillary usage: wipe carefully your skin and place the probe under the armpit paying attention that the probe is perfectly in contact with skin. Keep it positioned until you hear the beep alarm. Temperature detected is between 0,5 °C e 1,5 °C lower that rectal measurement. Measurement duration lasts from 80 to 120 seconds. For more accurate results it is advisable to extend the measurement duration of approximately 5 minutes despite the beep.
  • Rectal usage: insert the probe into the rectum about 2 cm maximum and wait till you hear the beep alarm. Measurement duration lasts from 40 to 60 seconds. Rectal measurement is considered the most accurate, because it detects the real in-ternal body temperature.

MEMORY FUNCTION

The thermometer stores in memory the last temperature measurement for two seconds (after the following switching on of the thermometer, after the writing “188.8 °C”).

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

In case the LCD displays the symbol “ ” in bottom right corner it would mean that battery needs to be replaced. Pull the battery cover in the opposite direction of the thermometer probe. Use a  non-metal pointed object like a pen and remove the old battery. Place a new 1.5V Battery, LR41 type; placing the positive pole upwards (+) and the negative one downwards (–). Put the battery cover back to its original position.

Notes on handling batteries.
If your skin or eyes come into contact with battery fluid, flush out the affected areas with water and seek medical assistance. Choking hazard! Small children may swallow and choke on batteries. Store the batteries out of the reach of small children.
If a  battery has leaked, put on protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a  dry cloth. Protect the batteries from excessive heat. Risk of explosion! Never throw batteries into a fire. Do not charge or short-circuit batteries. If the device is not to be used for a long period, take the batteries out of the battery compartment. Use identical or equivalent battery types only. Always replace all batteries at the same time. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Do  not disassemble, split or crush the batteries.

PRODUCT CLEANING

Clean always the thermometer, before or after each usage, with a  soft cloth dumped with water or alcohol diluted with water. Store the product into its plastic case. Never dip the unit into water or any other liquids.

The device (including its removable parts and accessories) must not be disposed of together with Municipal waste at the end of its life, but in compliance with European Directive. Since it must be handled separately from household waste, either carry it to a separately-collected waste disposal centre for electrical and electronic appliances or give it back to the retailer on purchasing a  new device with the same purpose. Any infringement will be severely prosecuted. The batteries used in this device must be disposed of in the special bins at the end of their life.
