About Terragene manuals on Manuals.plus

Terragene Sterilization & Infection Control

Terragene is a biotechnology company specializing in infection prevention and sterilization monitoring solutions for healthcare, laboratory, and pharmaceutical environments. Their extensive product lineup includes the Bionova line of Self-Contained Biological Indicators (SCBIs) designed for steam, ethylene oxide, and vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilization.

Additionally, Terragene manufactures advanced Auto-reader Incubators—such as the Bionova Photon, Hyper (BT98), and IC10/20FR—which offer hyper-rapid readouts to streamline sterile processing workflows. Their physical devices are safely integrated with the Bionova Cloud traceability software and smartphone applications, enabling precise, automated quality control from washing to final sterilization validation.

Terragene Bionova Auto-Readers

To assure proper readouts, Terragene provides purpose-built auto-reader incubators like the Bionova IC10/20FR and Hyper Auto-reader series. These devices guarantee correct temperature regulation and utilize fluorescence techniques to provide accurate sterility confirmation in mere minutes or seconds. Before operating these complex bio-medical devices, it is extremely important to review the correct user manuals for incubation parameters and safety practices.

Terragene support FAQ

Common questions about manuals, registration, and support for this brand.

  • How do I store Terragene Bionova Biological Indicators?

Store Bionova Biological Indicators in a dark place at an ambient temperature between 10-30 °C and 30-80% relative humidity. Never freeze them, and ensure they are not stored near sterilizing agents or other chemical products.

  • Why do I need a positive control when running a sterilization cycle check?

Using a non-sterilized Self-Contained Biological Indicator (SCBI) from the exact same batch as a positive control ensures that the incubation conditions were met properly, the medium promotes rapid growth, and that the spore viability hasn't been compromised due to improper storage. A valid test requires the positive control to show positive fluorescence readout.

  • How do I use a Bionova Auto-reader Incubator?

First, check your specific Terragene SCBI to ensure it matches the appropriate incubation time and temperature. Once an SCBI has been removed from a finished sterilization cycle and allowed to cool, press its lid to seal the tube, crush the internal ampoule using the provided ampoule crusher, and shake vigorously. Place the wetted SCBI into an empty position in the designated Bionova Auto-reader to begin automated fluorescence monitoring.

  • What does a color change to green or yellow mean on the indicators?

For BT98 SCBIs, a process label color change from purple to green indicates exposure to hydrogen peroxide, though it does not guarantee sterilization. If after the incubation period the culture medium itself changes color (typically to yellow), it denotes a positive result (presence of living spores), indicating a sterilization process failure.
