Updating the Nyquist System Controller using the USB Flash Drive

  1. Use the Nyquist web interface, Product License page to check the “Software Update Subscription Expiration Date” to make sure that your SUS is not expired. If your SUS is expired, do not proceed with the remaining instructions until you have updated your SUS and verified that your SUS is not expired. Your Product License Key needs to include an unexpired SUS before product activation will succeed.Note: If SUS has expired, please contact your Bogen RSM to discuss options for updating SUS. This upgrade WILL NOT WORK for a System that has expired SUS.

Troubleshooting

  • Upgrade won’t work / SUS expired: If the SUS is expired (shown on the Nyquist Product License page), the upgrade WILL NOT WORK. Update/renew SUS before proceeding and contact your Bogen RSM for options.
  • BIOS screen doesn’t appear: Power off the System Controller and try again (enter BIOS by repeatedly pressing the Delete key).
  • Controller fails to boot from USB: Power-cycle the controller, press Delete to enter BIOS, use arrow keys to go to the Boot tab, change Boot order to select the item containing “Debian”, then go to the Save & Exit tab to save and exit to force BIOS to boot Debian from the controller’s SSD.
  • Don’t see the Bogen GUI/login immediately: After re-imaging and reboot, you will see the Debian Login screen from the HDMI output; you will not see a Bogen GUI or login screen at that stage.
  • License release issues: Failure to release the License Activation Key may prevent reactivation and require Bogen Technical Support. If Release License fails, contact Bogen Technical Support.
  • Windows “format the disk” message after imaging: This is expected on some Microsoft Windows versions. Click Cancel, then safely eject the USB from the system tray and unplug it.
  • Avoid USB during configuration/activation: Do not access the Nyquist network setup wizard or attempt system activation while a USB flash drive is connected; system changes with the USB plugged in may corrupt the drive and cause unexpected behavior if later used on another controller.
