2. Safety Instructions

Always follow these safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and gloves during installation.
  • Handle glass carefully. Tempered glass is strong but can break if struck with sufficient force, creating small, blunt pieces.
  • Ensure the installation area is clear of obstructions and stable.
  • Use proper lifting techniques when handling the window to avoid back injuries.
  • Keep children and pets away from the installation area.
  • Do not attempt to modify the window frame or glass, as this may compromise its integrity and void the warranty.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present and undamaged before beginning installation.

  • 1 x Pre-installed Window Screen
  • 1 x Installation Hardware Set (screws, etc.)

4. Installation Guide

4.1. Pre-Installation Checks

Required Tools: Measuring tape, Level, Drill, Screwdriver, Sealant/Caulk gun (optional), Safety glasses, Gloves.

Measure Your Opening: Accurately measure the width and height of your rough opening. Ensure the opening is square and plumb. The window dimensions are 27 inches wide by 18 inches high. Your rough opening should be slightly larger to allow for proper fitting and shimming.

4.2. Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Prepare the Opening: Clean the rough opening, removing any debris or old caulk. Ensure the sill is level.
  2. Test Fit: Carefully place the window into the rough opening to ensure it fits. Adjust the opening if necessary.
  3. Level and Shim: Place the window in the opening. Use shims to level the window frame horizontally and vertically. Ensure the window is square within the opening.
  4. Secure the Window: Once the window is level and square, use the provided screws to secure the window frame to the rough opening through the pre-drilled holes in the frame. Do not overtighten.
  5. Check Operation: Open and close the sliding sash to ensure smooth operation. Check the lock mechanism.
  6. Seal (Optional but Recommended): Apply a bead of exterior-grade sealant or caulk around the perimeter of the window frame where it meets the exterior wall to prevent water infiltration and drafts.

5. Operating Instructions

Your sliding window is designed for ease of use and security.

  • Opening/Closing: To open the window, grasp the handle on the sliding sash and slide it horizontally along the track. To close, slide it back until it meets the fixed frame.
  • Locking: The window is equipped with an arc-shaped bidirectional crescent lock. To lock, rotate the crescent lock handle until it engages with the fixed frame. Ensure it is fully engaged for security.

  • Screen: The high-density screen is pre-installed. It allows for airflow while keeping insects out. The screen is removable for cleaning by disengaging retention clips (if present) or lifting it from its track.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your window.

  • Frame Cleaning: Clean the aluminum frame with a mild soap and water solution using a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbers that can scratch the finish. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Glass Cleaning: Use a standard glass cleaner and a soft, lint-free cloth or squeegee. Avoid cleaning in direct sunlight to prevent streaks.
  • Screen Cleaning: The screen can be cleaned with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment to remove dust and debris. For deeper cleaning, remove the screen and wash it gently with mild soap and water, then rinse and allow to air dry before re-installing.
  • Track Maintenance: Keep the sliding tracks clean and free of dirt, dust, and debris. A small brush or vacuum can be used. Periodically, a silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the tracks to ensure smooth sliding, but avoid oil-based lubricants which can attract dirt.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter.

  • Window is difficult to slide:
Solution: Clean the tracks thoroughly to remove any debris. Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the tracks. Check if the window frame is still level and square; adjust shims if necessary.
  • Window does not lock securely:
Solution: Ensure the sliding sash is fully closed. Check if any debris is obstructing the lock mechanism. Inspect the lock for damage; if damaged, contact customer support.
  • Drafts or water leakage:
Solution: Check the exterior sealant around the window frame and reapply if cracked or missing. Inspect the weatherstripping on the window sash for damage and replace if necessary.
  • Screen is damaged:
Solution: Small tears can sometimes be repaired with a screen repair kit. For larger damage, the screen may need to be replaced.
