5. Operating Instructions
Your Shintenchi Ergonomic Office Chair offers multiple adjustments to customize your seating experience for optimal comfort and support.
5.1. Seat Height Adjustment
To adjust the seat height, locate the lever on the right side, under the seat. While seated, pull the lever up to lower the seat. To raise the seat, stand up slightly and pull the lever up. Release the lever at the desired height.
5.2. Backrest Recline and Tilt-Lock
The chair features a 90°–135° backrest tilt. To recline, pull the lever on the left side, under the seat, outwards. Lean back to the desired angle and push the lever inwards to lock the position. To unlock, pull the lever outwards again.

5.3. Tilt Tension Adjustment
Adjust the resistance of the recline function by turning the round knob located under the seat, at the front of the mechanism plate. Turn clockwise to increase tension (harder to recline) and counter-clockwise to decrease tension (easier to recline).
5.4. Adjustable Lumbar Support
The lumbar support can be adjusted both vertically and in depth. To adjust the height, gently push the lumbar support up or down. To adjust the depth (forward/backward), rotate the knob located on the side of the lumbar support.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your Shintenchi Ergonomic Office Chair.
- Cleaning: For the mesh back and fabric seat, use a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For the plastic and metal parts, wipe with a damp cloth.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and bolts to ensure they are tight. Retighten as necessary to maintain stability and safety.
- Caster Care: Keep the casters free of hair and debris to ensure smooth movement. You can use a small brush or vacuum cleaner to clean them.
- Lubrication: The gas lift mechanism is sealed and does not require lubrication. If you notice squeaking, check for loose connections in the base or seat assembly.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your chair, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
- Chair Squeaks:
Solution: Check all screws and bolts, especially where the backrest meets the seat and the mechanism plate attaches to the seat. Tighten any loose fasteners. A small amount of silicone spray on moving metal parts (avoiding the gas lift cylinder) may help. - Chair Does Not Adjust Height:
Solution: Ensure the height adjustment lever is fully engaged. Check if the gas lift cylinder is properly seated in the base and mechanism. If the gas lift is faulty, it may need replacement. - Casters Do Not Roll Smoothly:
Solution: Inspect casters for trapped debris (hair, lint). Clean them thoroughly. Ensure casters are fully inserted into the base. - Backrest Does Not Recline or Lock:
Solution: Verify that the recline/tilt-lock lever is functioning correctly and not obstructed. Check the tilt tension knob; if it's too tight, the backrest may not recline easily.
