1. Introduction

2. Setup

2.1. Measuring for Installation

Accurate measurement is crucial for proper shade installation. Determine whether you will use an inside mount or an outside mount.

A window depth (D) of at least 2 13/32 inches (6.1 cm) is required. If the depth is less than 2 3/8 inches, the valance will extend beyond the window frame.

2.2. Mounting the Shade

After measuring, proceed with mounting the shade according to the provided hardware and instructions. Ensure the mounting brackets are securely fastened to the wall or window frame.

2.3. App Connection and Control

The Graywind shades connect via Bluetooth using the Motionblinds app. No additional hub or gateway is required.

  1. Download the Motionblinds app from your device's app store.
  2. Mount the shade securely.
  3. Open the Motionblinds app and follow the on-screen instructions to scan the setup QR code located on the shade's motor.
  4. The app will connect to your shade via Bluetooth, allowing for immediate control.

2.4. Charging the Battery

The shades are equipped with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. A full charge typically lasts 6-12 months, depending on usage.

  • Locate the USB-C charging port on the shade's motor.
  • Connect a USB-C charging cable (not included) to the port and a power source.
  • An indicator light will show the charging status.
  • An optional solar panel is available for continuous charging and reduced maintenance.

3. Operating the Shades

3.1. App Control

Control your shades directly from your smartphone using the Motionblinds app.

  • Open the Motionblinds app on your Bluetooth-enabled device.
  • Select the desired shade from the device list.
  • Use the app interface to open, close, or adjust the shade to a specific percentage.
  • The app provides reliable control within a range of up to 33 feet.

3.2. Manual Pull Wand Control

For quick adjustments or when your phone is not readily available, use the integrated pull wand.

  • Gently pull down on the wand to lower the shade.
  • Push up on the wand to raise the shade.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Dust the shades regularly with a soft cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. For spot cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water, then blot dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Charging: Recharge the battery when the indicator light suggests low power. Regular charging helps maintain battery health.
  • Motor Care: The European-quality motor is tested for up to 10,000 cycles. No specific user maintenance is required for the motor itself. Avoid exposing the motor unit to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
