- Fold Frame: Release the safety latch and open the main folding buckle on the frame. Fold the two halves of the frame together. Secure the buckle and engage the safety latch.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Gear Shifting (Shimano 7-Speed)

Image 3: Shimano 7-Speed Transmission. This image details the rear derailleur and the handlebar shifters, illustrating the precise and smooth gear changing system for various riding conditions.
Your RCB GK4 is equipped with a Shimano 7-speed gear system for versatile riding. The gear shifter is located on the right handlebar.
- To Shift Up (Harder Gear): Rotate the shifter towards you (higher number). This is for faster speeds on flat or downhill terrain.
- To Shift Down (Easier Gear): Rotate the shifter away from you (lower number). This is for climbing hills or starting from a stop.
- Always shift gears while pedaling lightly. Avoid shifting under heavy load or when stationary to prevent damage to the drivetrain.
6.2 Braking (Mechanical Disc Brakes)
The bicycle features mechanical disc brakes for reliable stopping power.
- The right brake lever controls the rear wheel brake.
- The left brake lever controls the front wheel brake.
- Apply both brakes simultaneously and gradually for controlled stopping. Avoid sudden, hard application of the front brake, especially at high speeds, as this can cause loss of control.
- Brake performance may be reduced in wet conditions. Allow for longer stopping distances.
6.3 Seat and Handlebar Adjustment

Image 4: Comfortable Riding and Perfect Fit. This image highlights the adjustable handlebar and ergonomic saddle, demonstrating how the bike can be customized for rider comfort and proper posture. The adjustable seat accommodates riders from 1.52m to 1.83m.
Ensure your seat and handlebar are adjusted for optimal comfort and control.
- Seat Height: Adjust so your leg has a slight bend at the knee when the pedal is at its lowest point.
- Handlebar Height: Adjust to a height that allows for a comfortable, slightly forward-leaning posture without straining your back or arms.
- Always ensure quick-release levers are securely tightened after adjustment.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your RCB GK4 bicycle.
- Cleaning: Clean your bicycle regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid high-pressure washers directly on bearings or electrical components. Dry thoroughly after washing.
- Lubrication: Lubricate the chain every 100-200 km or after riding in wet conditions. Use bicycle-specific chain lubricant. Apply sparingly and wipe off excess.
- Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure before each ride. Maintain pressure within the range indicated on the tire sidewall.
- Brakes: Regularly check brake pads for wear. Replace them when they are worn down. Ensure brake cables are not frayed and are properly tensioned.
- Gears: If shifting becomes rough or inaccurate, the gear cables may need adjustment. This is often best performed by a qualified bicycle mechanic.
- Bolts and Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick-release levers for tightness. Do not overtighten.
- Folding Mechanisms: Keep folding hinges clean and lightly lubricated. Ensure they operate smoothly and lock securely.
8. Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Brakes feel spongy or weak | Loose brake cable, worn brake pads, contaminated rotor/pads | Adjust cable tension, replace brake pads, clean rotor/pads with disc brake cleaner |
| Gears are not shifting smoothly or skipping | Derailleur out of adjustment, stretched cable, dirty drivetrain | Adjust derailleur limits/cable tension, clean and lubricate chain/derailleur. Consult a mechanic if unsure. |
| Tires lose air quickly | Puncture, loose valve stem, faulty valve core | Inspect tire for punctures, repair or replace inner tube, tighten valve stem/core |
| Creaking noise while pedaling | Loose pedals, bottom bracket, or crank arms | Tighten pedals, check crank arm bolts. If noise persists, consult a mechanic for bottom bracket inspection. |
| Folding mechanism is stiff | Dirt/grime in hinge, lack of lubrication | Clean hinge area thoroughly, apply a small amount of light lubricant. |
