Introduction
The Timex Waterbury Ace Fly-Back Chronograph is a sophisticated timepiece featuring a proprietary Intelligent Quartz® fly-back chronograph movement. This watch combines classic pilot watch aesthetics with advanced functionality, including a dual time zone indicator. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your watch.
Setup
Setting the Time
- Pull the crown (A) out to position 2.
- Rotate the crown in either direction to set the hour and minute hands to the desired time.
- Push the crown back into position 0 to start the watch.
Chronograph Hand Alignment
If the chronograph hands are not aligned to zero, they may need to be reset:
- Pull the crown (A) out to position 2.
- Press the upper pusher (B) to advance the chronograph seconds hand. Press the lower pusher (C) to advance the chronograph minute hand.
- Once all chronograph hands are aligned to the 12 o'clock (zero) position, push the crown back into position 0.

This image displays the right side of the watch case, featuring the main crown (A) for time setting and two pushers (B and C) for operating the chronograph functions.
Operating the Watch
Using the Fly-Back Chronograph
- Start/Stop: Press the upper pusher (B) to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
- Fly-Back Reset: While the chronograph is running, press the lower pusher (C) to instantly reset the chronograph hands to zero and restart timing from that point. This allows for rapid consecutive timing without stopping and manually resetting.
- Standard Reset: If the chronograph is stopped, press the lower pusher (C) to reset the hands to zero.
Dual Time Zone Indicator
The upper sub-dial, when the chronograph is not in use, functions as a second time zone indicator. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your watch for setting this feature, typically involving the crown or a dedicated pusher.
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). This rating makes it suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, it is not recommended for scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the pushers or crown while the watch is submerged.

Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by rinsing with clean water and drying thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
Strap Care
The leather strap should be kept dry and clean. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture, which can cause the leather to crack or discolor. Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse the leather strap in water.
Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by a quartz movement requiring a battery. When the battery needs replacement, it is recommended to take the watch to an authorized Timex service center or a qualified watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and water resistance integrity.
Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
- Chronograph Hands Misaligned: Follow the "Chronograph Hand Alignment" steps in the Setup section.
- Water Inside the Watch: If you notice condensation or water droplets inside the watch, immediately take it to an authorized service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself.
- Inaccurate Timekeeping: If the watch consistently gains or loses time significantly, it may require servicing.
