5. Operating Instructions

This section details how to operate your STEELITE electric lawn mower safely and effectively.

5.1 Starting and Stopping the Mower

  1. Ensure the mower is on a flat, clear surface.
  2. Connect the power cord to the mower and then to a suitable outdoor electrical outlet. Use an extension cord rated for outdoor use and appropriate amperage.
  3. To start, press and hold the Lock-Off Button, then pull the On/Off Trigger towards the handle.
  4. To stop, release the On/Off Trigger. The blade will stop rotating within a few seconds.

5.2 Adjusting Cutting Height

Your mower features a 6-position height adjustment system, allowing you to select cutting heights from 0.98 inches (25mm) to 2.95 inches (75mm). Adjusting the cutting height is crucial for maintaining a healthy lawn and achieving your desired grass length.

  1. Ensure the mower is turned off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Locate the height adjustment lever on the side of the mower.
  3. Pull the lever outwards and move it forward or backward to the desired cutting height position. The positions are typically numbered or marked with height indicators.
  4. Release the lever, ensuring it locks securely into place. Verify that all four wheels are at the same height setting.

5.3 Mowing Tips

  • Optimal Cutting: For best results, avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade length at a time.
  • Overlap Passes: Overlap each mowing pass slightly to ensure an even cut.
  • Pattern: Mow in straight lines, changing direction occasionally to prevent matting of the grass.
  • Cord Management: Always be aware of the power cord's position to avoid cutting it. Mow away from the power outlet.

5.4 Grass Collection

The mower is equipped with an 11-gallon grass collection bag. Monitor the bag's fill level and empty it regularly to maintain optimal cutting performance and prevent clogging. A full bag can reduce airflow and cutting efficiency.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your STEELITE lawn mower. Always disconnect the power cord before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, clean the underside of the mower deck to remove grass clippings and debris. Use a stiff brush or scraper.
  • Wipe down the exterior of the mower with a damp cloth. Do not use water jets or high-pressure washers directly on the motor or electrical components.
  • Empty and clean the grass collection bag regularly.

6.2 Blade Care

  • Periodically inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to an uneven cut and strain the motor.
  • If the blade is dull, it can be sharpened by a qualified service technician. If damaged, it must be replaced with a genuine STEELITE replacement blade.
  • When handling the blade, always wear heavy-duty gloves.

6.3 Storage

  • Store the mower in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Ensure the power cord is neatly coiled and stored to prevent damage.
  • The lightweight design (approximately 27 lbs) allows for easy transport and storage.
