2. Setup Instructions

This awning requires mounting to a stable wall or surface. All necessary mounting materials are included for a straightforward installation process.

2.1. Unpacking and Component Check

  1. Carefully unpack all components from the packaging.
  2. Verify that all parts listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. Refer to the 'Technical Specifications' section for a list of components.

2.2. Mounting the Awning

The awning consists of a main housing unit and a separate receiving post. Both need to be securely mounted.

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable, stable wall or surface for mounting the main housing unit. Ensure the area for the receiving post is also clear and stable, allowing for the full extension of the awning.
  2. Mount Main Housing: Position the main housing unit vertically against the wall at the desired height. Mark the drilling points for the mounting brackets.
  3. Drill Holes: Drill holes at the marked points using an appropriate drill bit for your wall type. Insert wall anchors if necessary.
  4. Secure Housing: Attach the main housing unit securely to the wall using the provided screws and washers. Ensure it is level and firmly fixed.
  5. Mount Receiving Post: Extend the awning fabric slightly to determine the exact position for the receiving post. The post should be positioned to allow the awning to be fully extended and taut. Mark the drilling points for the base plate of the receiving post.
  6. Secure Receiving Post: Drill holes and secure the receiving post's base plate to the ground or a stable surface using the provided screws and anchors. Ensure the post is vertical and aligned with the main housing.

3. Operating the Awning

The tectake® side awning features an automatic retraction mechanism for ease of use.

3.1. Extending the Awning

  1. Grasp the handle located on the leading edge of the awning fabric.
  2. Gently pull the handle horizontally away from the main housing unit. The fabric will extend smoothly.
  3. Guide the handle towards the receiving post.
  4. Hook the handle securely into the designated slot or catch on the receiving post. Ensure it is firmly engaged to keep the fabric taut.

3.2. Retracting the Awning

  1. Unhook the handle from the receiving post.
  2. Slowly guide the handle back towards the main housing unit. The automatic winding mechanism will retract the fabric.
  3. Ensure the fabric retracts evenly and without obstruction into the housing. Do not release the handle abruptly, as this can cause the fabric to snap back quickly.

4. Care and Maintenance

Regular care will prolong the life and appearance of your tectake® side awning.

4.1. Fabric Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the fabric with a soft brush or cloth and mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the water-repellent coating.
  • Drying: Always ensure the fabric is completely dry before retracting the awning for extended periods to prevent mold and mildew growth.
  • Stains: For stubborn stains, use a specialized outdoor fabric cleaner, following the product instructions carefully.

4.2. Frame and Mechanism Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the powder-coated steel and aluminum frame with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust.
  • Lubrication: Periodically check the automatic winding mechanism for smooth operation. If needed, apply a silicone-based lubricant to moving parts, avoiding contact with the fabric.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose fasteners.
