3.3 7-Way Valve Functions

The multiport valve allows you to select different modes for pool maintenance. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

  1. FILTER: Normal filtering mode. Water passes through the filter media and returns to the pool.
  2. BACKWASH: Reverses water flow through the filter media to clean it, discharging dirty water to waste.
  3. RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush out any remaining dirt from the filter media before returning to filter mode. Water is discharged to waste.
  4. DRAIN: Drains water directly from the pool to waste, bypassing the filter.
  5. CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter and pump. Do not operate the pump in this position.
  6. RECIRCULATE: Circulates pool water without passing it through the filter media. Useful for chemical distribution.
  7. WINTER: Position for winter storage to protect the valve from freezing.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack all components and inspect them for any damage. Ensure all parts listed in Section 3.1 are present.

4.2 Filter Media Installation

The filter is compatible with filter sand (10 kg capacity), filter balls (300 g capacity), or filter glass. The product includes 200g of filter balls as an initial quantity. More may be required depending on your pool size.

  1. Remove the multiport valve from the top of the filter tank.
  2. Place the funnel (if provided) into the tank opening to prevent filter media from entering the standpipe.
  3. Carefully add the chosen filter media into the tank.
  4. Remove the funnel and ensure the standpipe is centered.
  5. Reattach the multiport valve, ensuring a tight seal.

4.3 Connecting Hoses

The pump uses standard Ø32/38 mm connections. Use the provided adapters, hose, and clamps to connect the pump to your pool's inlet and outlet ports.

  • Connect the pump outlet to the multiport valve's 'PUMP' port.
  • Connect the multiport valve's 'RETURN' port to your pool's water return line.
  • Connect the multiport valve's 'WASTE' port to a drain or suitable waste area.
  • Connect your pool's water suction line to the pump inlet.

4.4 Initial Start-up

  1. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
  2. Fill the pump with water (prime it) if necessary, following the pump's specific priming instructions.
  3. Set the 7-way valve to the 'BACKWASH' position.
  4. Turn on the pump and run it for 2-3 minutes or until the water from the waste line runs clear.
  5. Turn off the pump.
  6. Set the 7-way valve to the 'RINSE' position.
  7. Turn on the pump and run it for 30-60 seconds.
  8. Turn off the pump.
  9. Set the 7-way valve to the 'FILTER' position. The system is now ready for normal operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Daily Filtration

For daily filtration, ensure the 7-way valve is set to the 'FILTER' position. Turn on the pump. The pump will draw water from the pool, pass it through the filter media, and return clean water to the pool. The recommended filtration time varies based on pool size and usage, typically 8-12 hours per day.

5.2 Monitoring the Pressure Gauge

The integrated pressure gauge indicates the operating pressure of the filter system. A rising pressure indicates that the filter media is becoming dirty and requires cleaning (backwashing). Refer to the 'Maintenance' section for details on backwashing.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Backwashing and Rinsing

Backwashing and rinsing are crucial for maintaining filter efficiency. Perform these operations when the pressure gauge reading is significantly higher than the clean filter pressure, or when water flow to the pool decreases.

  1. Turn off the pump.
  2. Set the 7-way valve to 'BACKWASH'.
  3. Turn on the pump and run until the water from the waste line runs clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
  4. Turn off the pump.
  5. Set the 7-way valve to 'RINSE'.
  6. Turn on the pump and run for 30-60 seconds.
  7. Turn off the pump.
  8. Set the 7-way valve back to 'FILTER' for normal operation.

6.2 Filter Media Replacement

Filter media should be replaced periodically, typically every 3-5 years for sand, or as needed for filter balls/glass, depending on usage and water quality. Follow the steps in Section 4.2 for media installation.

6.3 Winterization

Before winter, drain all water from the pump and filter tank to prevent freezing damage. Set the 7-way valve to the 'WINTER' position. Store the pump and filter in a dry, frost-free location.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Low water flow / Poor filtration Dirty filter media; Clogged skimmer/pump basket; Air leak in suction line; Low water level in pool. Perform backwash and rinse; Clean skimmer/pump basket; Check and seal air leaks; Adjust pool water level.
Pump not priming Air leak in suction line; Insufficient water in pump housing; Clogged impeller. Check and seal air leaks; Fill pump housing with water; Clean impeller.
Water leaking from pump/filter Loose connections; Damaged O-rings/gaskets; Cracked housing. Tighten connections; Replace O-rings/gaskets; Contact support for replacement.
High pressure gauge reading Dirty filter media. Perform backwash and rinse.
Pump not starting No power; Thermal overload tripped; Motor fault. Check power supply/breaker; Allow motor to cool; Contact qualified technician.
