Introduction

The JOBY TelePod Mini is a versatile 3-in-1 device designed for mobile content creators. It functions as a compact selfie stick, a stable handheld grip, and a desktop tripod. This manual provides instructions for its proper setup, operation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

Setup

1. Unfolding the Tripod

To use the TelePod Mini as a tripod or selfie stick, gently pull the legs outwards from the base until they lock into position. The center column can be extended by pulling it upwards.

2. Mounting Your Phone

The integrated phone holder is spring-loaded. Carefully pull the top jaw upwards and insert your smartphone. Ensure the phone is securely gripped by both jaws. The holder supports both horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) orientations by rotating the phone within the clamp.

3. Pairing the Bluetooth Remote

  1. Ensure the Bluetooth remote is charged.
  2. Turn on the remote by pressing and holding the power button until the indicator light flashes.
  3. On your smartphone, go to Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
  4. Select "JOBY Remote" or a similar name to pair. The indicator light on the remote will stop flashing once paired.
  5. The remote can be attached to the tripod handle or used separately for remote shooting.

Operating Modes

1. Selfie Stick Mode

With the legs folded, extend the center column to your desired length. Hold the grip firmly and use the Bluetooth remote to capture photos or start video recording.

2. Handheld Grip Mode

Keep the center column retracted and the legs folded for a compact handheld grip. This mode is suitable for stable video recording or vlogging on the go.

3. Desktop Tripod Mode

Extend the legs fully and place the TelePod Mini on a flat surface. Adjust the center column height as needed. This mode is ideal for video calls, live streaming, or hands-free content creation.

4. Using Cold Shoe Mounts

The phone holder features dual cold shoe mounts. These allow you to attach accessories such as a mini fill light or an external microphone to enhance your mobile shooting setup.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the TelePod Mini in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure it is folded compactly to prevent damage.
  • Battery Care (Remote/Light): For models with a mini fill light or Bluetooth remote, ensure batteries are charged periodically if not in regular use to maintain battery health.

Troubleshooting

Bluetooth Remote Not Connecting:
Ensure the remote is charged and turned on. Check your phone's Bluetooth settings to confirm it's discoverable and try re-pairing. If issues persist, try restarting both your phone and the remote.
Tripod Stability Issues:
Ensure the legs are fully extended and locked into position. For maximum stability, place the tripod on a flat, level surface. Avoid over-extending the center column with heavy phones or accessories.
Phone Not Fitting in Holder:
The phone holder is designed for most smartphones. Ensure you are pulling the top jaw sufficiently upwards to insert your phone. Remove any bulky phone cases if necessary.
