Setup

Battery Installation

The MJX H8H V2 RC Crawler requires a LiPo battery (7.4V 2S or 11.1V 3S, not included) for the vehicle and a 9V battery (included) for the remote controller.

Remote Controller Battery

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote controller.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert one 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

Vehicle Battery

  1. Access the battery trays located at the front and rear of the vehicle.
  2. Connect a fully charged 7.4V 2S or 11.1V 3S LiPo battery to the vehicle's Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) connector.
  3. Secure the battery in the tray using the provided straps or clips to prevent movement during operation.
  4. Ensure all connections are firm and properly insulated.

Pairing the Remote Controller

  1. Turn on the remote controller. The indicator light will typically flash, indicating it is searching for a connection.
  2. Turn on the RC vehicle.
  3. The remote controller and vehicle will automatically attempt to pair. The indicator light on the remote will become solid when paired successfully.
  4. If pairing fails, turn off both devices and repeat the process. Ensure no other 2.4GHz devices are causing interference.

App Connectivity (Bluetooth)

  1. Download the official MJX RC app from your smartphone's app store (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play Store).
  2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  3. Turn on the RC vehicle.
  4. Open the MJX RC app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your H8H V2.
  5. The app allows for additional control, telemetry features, and customization options.

Operating Instructions

Basic Controls

Familiarize yourself with the remote controller's primary functions before operating the vehicle:

  • Throttle Trigger: Pull the trigger towards you to accelerate forward. Push the trigger away from you to engage the brake or reverse.
  • Steering Wheel: Turn the wheel left or right to steer the vehicle in the corresponding direction.
  • Trim Adjustments: Use the steering trim and throttle trim dials or buttons to fine-tune straight-line tracking and the neutral throttle position, ensuring the vehicle drives straight and stops when the throttle is released.

High/Low Speed Transmission

The H8H V2 features a two-speed mechanical transmission. Use the designated switch on the remote controller to toggle between high speed (for open, less challenging terrain) and low speed (for technical rock crawling and steep inclines, requiring more torque and control).

Differential Lock Operation

The front and rear differential locks can be engaged or disengaged remotely. Engaging the differential locks provides maximum traction by ensuring both wheels on an axle spin at the same rate, which is crucial for extremely challenging terrain. Disengaging them allows for a better turning radius and higher speeds on less demanding surfaces. Refer to your remote controller for the specific switch or button controlling this function.

Controllable LED Lights

The vehicle is equipped with functional LED lights. Use the designated button on the remote controller or the smartphone app to turn the lights on/off or cycle through different lighting modes, enhancing realism and visibility.

Driving Tips

  • Outdoor Use: This crawler is specifically designed for outdoor use. While it has an IP67 rating, avoid operating in heavy rain, deep water, or extreme mud to prolong its lifespan.
  • Terrain Adaptation: Utilize low speed and engage differential locks for optimal control and traction when navigating rock crawling sections, steep inclines, or uneven surfaces. Switch to high speed for faster driving on flatter, open ground.
  • Battery Life: Always monitor battery levels to avoid sudden power loss during operation. Plan your driving sessions according to battery capacity.
  • Range Awareness: Maintain a clear line of sight with the vehicle and stay within the specified 120-meter remote control range to ensure reliable communication and control.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your RC crawler:

  • After each use, especially in dusty, sandy, or muddy conditions, use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dirt and debris from the chassis, suspension components, and motor area.
  • Wipe down the body with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents, as they may damage the finish.
  • Ensure all moving parts, including suspension linkages and driveshafts, are free from obstructions and operate smoothly.

Storage

  • Store the vehicle and remote controller in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperatures.
  • Disconnect and remove batteries from both the vehicle and remote controller before long-term storage to prevent leakage or damage.

Battery Care

  • Always use the recommended charger for your LiPo batteries. Follow the charger's instructions carefully.
  • Do not overcharge or over-discharge LiPo batteries, as this can significantly reduce their lifespan and pose a safety risk.
  • Store LiPo batteries at a storage voltage (typically around 3.8V per cell) if they will not be used for extended periods.
  • Inspect batteries for any signs of damage, swelling, or leakage before and after each use. Discontinue use immediately if any damage is observed.

Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your MJX H8H V2 RC Rock Crawler.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Vehicle does not respond to remote controller.Low battery in vehicle or remote; not paired; power switch off.Charge/replace batteries in both vehicle and remote. Ensure both are powered on and paired correctly.
Vehicle loses connection intermittently.Out of range; radio interference; low battery.Bring vehicle closer to the remote. Move to an area with less radio interference. Check battery levels.
Steering is off-center or pulls to one side.Steering trim needs adjustment; damaged steering components.Adjust the steering trim dial/button on the remote controller. Inspect steering linkages and servo for damage.
Vehicle lacks power or moves slowly.Low vehicle battery; motor/ESC issue; debris in drivetrain.Fully charge the vehicle battery. Inspect motor and ESC connections. Clear any debris from gears and driveshafts.
Differential locks not engaging/disengaging.Mechanical obstruction; servo issue; linkage problem.Check for debris around the differential lock mechanism. Inspect the servo and its linkage responsible for the differential lock.
