Setup and Installation

Installation typically requires two people due to the awning's size and weight. Ensure you have the necessary tools before starting.

Tools Required (Not Included):

  • Drill with appropriate bits for your wall type (wood, concrete, brick)
  • Level
  • Measuring Tape
  • Wrench/Socket Set
  • Pencil for marking
  • Ladder

Installation Steps:

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable wall location that can support the awning's weight and provides adequate clearance. Ensure there are no obstructions for extension and retraction.
  2. Mark Mounting Points: Use a level and measuring tape to accurately mark the positions for the wall mount brackets. The brackets must be installed on a sturdy, load-bearing part of the wall.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Use appropriate drill bits and techniques for your wall material (e.g., masonry bit for concrete/brick, wood bit for studs).
  4. Install Wall Mounts: Securely attach the wall mount brackets using the provided hardware. For wood structures, additional screws and washers may be required (not included).
  5. Mount Awning: With assistance, carefully lift the awning assembly and slide it into the installed wall mount brackets. Ensure it is seated correctly and securely.
  6. Secure Awning: Fasten the awning to the brackets according to the detailed instructions in the included manual.
  7. Adjust Angle: The awning's pitch can be adjusted between 45-85 degrees by screwing the adjustment mechanism on the arms. Refer to the 'Operating Instructions' section for details.

Operating Instructions

Your Aoxun Manual Retractable Awning is designed for easy manual operation using the included crank handle.

Extending and Retracting the Awning:

  1. Insert the crank handle into the loop on the side of the awning.
  2. To extend the awning, turn the crank handle clockwise. The awning will smoothly roll out.
  3. To retract the awning, turn the crank handle counter-clockwise. The awning will smoothly roll in.
  4. Stop cranking when the awning is fully extended or retracted, or at your desired position. Do not force the mechanism.

Adjusting the Awning Angle:

The awning's pitch can be adjusted to block the sun effectively at different times of the day.

  1. Locate the adjustment screws on the awning arms near the wall mounts.
  2. Using an appropriate tool (e.g., wrench), carefully loosen the adjustment screws.
  3. Adjust the angle of the awning arms to achieve the desired pitch (between 45 and 85 degrees).
  4. Once the desired angle is set, securely tighten the adjustment screws to lock the position.

Retracting in Inclement Weather:

Always retract the awning when strong winds, heavy rain, or snow are expected. This prevents damage to the awning and ensures safety.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your awning.

  • Fabric Cleaning: Clean the awning fabric periodically with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before retracting. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Frame Inspection: Annually inspect the frame, arms, and mounting hardware for any signs of rust, corrosion, loose bolts, or damage. Tighten any loose fasteners.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the arms and crank mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
  • Seasonal Storage: For prolonged periods of non-use or during harsh winter conditions, it is recommended to fully retract the awning. If possible, cover the retracted awning for additional protection.
