Introduction
The Zodiac Freedom + Control is an autonomous robotic pool cleaner designed for comprehensive cleaning of in-ground and above-ground pools with rigid walls. Its wireless operation, powered by a high-performance lithium battery, allows for unrestricted movement, effectively cleaning the pool floor, walls, and waterline. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use, setup, operation, and maintenance of your robotic pool cleaner.
Safety Information
Always read and understand all safety instructions before operating the appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.
- Ensure the pool cleaner is disconnected from its charging station before handling, cleaning, or performing any maintenance.
- Keep children and pets away from the pool area during the cleaner's operation.
- Do not operate the cleaner if any part is damaged or if the power cord to the charging station is frayed.
- The cleaner incorporates a Safety Beach function and electronic protection sensors that automatically stop the motor if the unit is detected out of water. Do not attempt to bypass these safety features.
- Use only the original charging station and accessories provided by Zodiac.
- Do not immerse the charging station in water.

Setup
1. Charging the Robot
Before first use, fully charge the robotic pool cleaner. The high-performance lithium-ion battery provides up to 2.5 hours of autonomy. A full charge takes approximately 5 hours.
- Place the charging station in a dry, shaded area, away from direct sunlight and water splashes.
- Connect the charging station to a suitable power outlet.
- Carefully place the robotic cleaner onto the charging station. Ensure proper contact between the charging terminals.
- The charging indicator on the robot will illuminate to show the charging status. Allow approximately 5 hours for a full charge.

2. App Installation (iAquaLink®)
For advanced control and monitoring, download the iAquaLink® app:
- Search for "iAquaLink" in your device's app store (iOS or Android).
- Download and install the app.
- Follow the in-app instructions to create an account and pair your Zodiac Freedom + Control robotic cleaner via Bluetooth.
3. Initial Placement in the Pool
Once charged, carefully lower the cleaner into the pool. Ensure it is fully submerged before initiating any cleaning cycle.
Operating Instructions
1. Starting a Cleaning Cycle
You can start a cleaning cycle using either the iAquaLink® app or the remote control.
- Using the iAquaLink® App: Open the app, select your cleaner, and choose your desired cleaning mode. The app allows you to monitor battery status and customize cycle duration.
- Using the Remote Control: Press the designated button on the remote control to start a standard cleaning cycle.
2. Cleaning Modes
The Zodiac Freedom + Control offers several cleaning modes to suit your pool's needs:
- Floor: Focuses solely on cleaning the pool floor. (Approximate duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)
- Floor, Wall, and Waterline: Provides a comprehensive clean of the entire pool surface. (Approximate duration: 2 hours 30 minutes)
- Waterline: Specifically cleans the waterline area. (Approximate duration: 45 minutes)
- Smart (Wall, Waterline, Floor): This cycle is calculated and programmed via the iAquaLink® app for optimized cleaning based on pool conditions.
3. Remote Control Operation
The wireless remote control provides manual guidance and control over the robot.
- Use the directional buttons to steer the robot (left, right, forward, backward) to specific areas.
- Press the start/stop button to initiate or pause a cleaning cycle at any time.
- The remote can also be used to recall the robot to the waterline for convenient retrieval.
- The remote control has a maximum range of 7 meters and is waterproof. For optimal operation, ensure the remote is partially immersed in water. A red LED indicator will flash when batteries need replacement.

4. Retrieval System
After a cleaning cycle, the robot will assist in its own retrieval:
- Upon completion, you will receive a notification via the iAquaLink® app.
- The robot will automatically move to the waterline and wait for ten minutes for you to retrieve it.
- Utilize the patented Tap and Lift system for easy removal: simply touch the robot's cover with an extension pole. The robot will then rise to the surface, automatically draining 95% of the water to make it lighter and easier to lift out.

The image illustrates the retrieval process, where the robot surfaces at the waterline for easy removal after a cleaning cycle.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your robotic pool cleaner.
1. Filter Cleaning
The cleaner features a dual-stage filtration system (150/60 microns) with a 4-liter capacity. Regularly clean the filter basket to maintain optimal suction performance. The patented cyclonic suction keeps debris suspended, preventing clogging.
- After each cleaning cycle, remove the robot from the pool.
- Open the filter compartment and remove the filter basket.
- Empty all collected debris from the basket.
- Rinse the filter basket thoroughly with a garden hose until all fine particles are removed.
- Reinsert the clean filter basket into the robot and close the compartment securely.

The filter basket, shown open, should be regularly cleaned to ensure efficient debris collection and maintain suction power.
2. General Cleaning and Inspection
- Rinse the entire robot with fresh water after each use to remove chlorine and chemical residues.
- Inspect the brushes and tracks for any trapped debris, hair, or foreign objects. Remove them carefully.
- Check the power cable for the charging station for any signs of wear or damage.
3. Battery Care and Storage
- Always charge the battery fully after each use.
- Before long-term storage (e.g., during winter), ensure the battery is fully charged. Store the robot in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Periodically check the battery charge during long storage periods and recharge if necessary to maintain battery health.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Zodiac Freedom + Control, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Robot not moving or stopping unexpectedly. | Low battery charge. Debris obstructing tracks/brushes. Safety sensors activated (out of water). | Recharge the robot fully. Inspect and clean tracks/brushes. Ensure robot is fully submerged. |
| Poor cleaning performance. | Clogged filter basket. Improper submersion. Unbalanced pool water chemistry. | Clean the filter basket thoroughly. Ensure robot is fully submerged and air bubbles are released. Check and adjust pool water chemistry. |
| App connectivity issues. | Bluetooth disabled. App or robot needs restart. Outdated app version. | Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Restart the iAquaLink® app and the robot. Check for app updates in your device's app store. |
| Remote control not working. | Low remote control battery. Out of range. Remote not partially immersed. | Replace remote control batteries (check LED indicator). Move closer to the robot. Ensure remote is partially immersed for optimal signal. |
| Robot not surfacing for retrieval. | Retrieval system not activated. Obstruction. | Ensure cycle is complete and app notification received. Use remote to guide to waterline. If using Tap and Lift, ensure firm contact with extension pole. |
