4.2 Controls and Ports

5. Setup

1. Initial Charge: Before first use, fully charge the FiiO M33 R2R using the provided USB-C cable and a compatible power adapter. The device supports 30W low-temperature fast charging.

3. Initial Setup Wizard: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and set up your Google account.

6.1 Basic Navigation

The FiiO M33 R2R runs on Android 13, providing a familiar smartphone-like interface. Use the 5.5-inch touchscreen for navigation. Swipe down from the top for quick settings and notifications. Use the physical buttons on the side for volume and playback control.

6.2 Music Playback

You can play music from various sources:

• Local Files: Transfer music files (FLAC, WAV, etc.) to the internal 128GB storage or an inserted MicroSD card. Use the pre-installed music player app to browse and play your library.
• Streaming Services: Connect to Wi-Fi and download your preferred streaming apps (e.g., Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music) from the Google Play Store.
• Bluetooth Playback: Pair with Bluetooth headphones or speakers for wireless audio. The device supports Hi-Res LDAC Bluetooth.

6.3 USB DAC Mode

The FiiO M33 R2R can function as a high-quality USB DAC for your computer or other devices, thanks to its dedicated XMOS XU316 USB audio processor. This ensures ultra-low latency and consistent high-quality audio performance.

6.4 AUTO EQ and Sound Profiles

The M33 R2R supports AUTO EQ, which automatically matches headphone frequency curves for precise, lossless tuning. You can also select between two sound profiles: FLAT (neutral) and WARM (smooth, analog-inspired), or customize with the 10-band lossless PEQ.

7. Advanced Audio Features

7.1 True R2R DAC Architecture

The M33 R2R is FiiO’s first portable player built around a self-developed R2R resistor ladder DAC. This architecture faithfully translates desktop-grade R2R sound into a compact form, providing a lush, analog warmth combined with high-fidelity performance.

7.2 Fully Differential TI Analog Circuitry

The device features a complete analog architecture utilizing TI fully differential op-amps and four INA1620 headphone amplifiers. This setup delivers a powerful output of up to 1100mW + 1100mW (balanced), capable of driving both IEMs and full-size headphones with authority.

7.3 Multi-Stage Partitioned Shielding

To ensure the cleanest audio possible, the digital audio processing, R2R array, amp, and power modules are housed in separate zones with independent shielding. This significantly reduces signal interference and crosstalk, resulting in an ultra-silent background with a clearer soundstage.

8. Battery and Storage Management

8.1 Battery Life and Charging

The FiiO M33 R2R is equipped with a 4400mAh battery, offering extended playback times. It supports 30W low-temperature fast charging, allowing for a full charge in approximately 1.5 hours. Playback times are approximately 15.5 hours for single-ended and 13.5 hours for balanced playback.

8.2 Storage

The device comes with 128GB of internal storage. This can be expanded further using a MicroSD card, allowing you to carry a vast music library.
