6. Calibration

The GIDIGI GX-F7EU is factory pre-calibrated. However, re-calibration is recommended periodically or if readings appear inaccurate. Always calibrate pH 7.0 first, then pH 4.0 or pH 10.0. For ORP, calibrate with 222mV solution.

6.1. pH Calibration (pH 7.0)

  1. Turn on the tester and switch to pH mode.
  2. Immerse the electrode into the pH 7.00 calibration solution.
  3. Press and hold the MODE/CAL button for 5 seconds until "CAL" appears on the screen, then release.
  4. The screen will display "7.0" and blink. Wait for the blinking to stop, indicating successful calibration.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Electrode Cleaning

After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water to prevent contamination and residue buildup. For stubborn deposits, use a soft brush and a mild cleaning solution specifically designed for pH electrodes, then rinse thoroughly.

7.2. Storage

Always replace the protective cap after use. Ensure the electrode remains moist by adding a few drops of storage solution or pH 7.00 buffer solution to the cap if storing for extended periods. Never store the electrode dry.

7.3. Waterproof Rating

The device has an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected from immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, it is not designed for continuous submersion. Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed to maintain its waterproof integrity.

8. Applications

The GIDIGI GX-F7EU tester is suitable for a wide range of water quality monitoring needs:

  • Swimming Pools & Spas: Monitor pH, chlorine, and salinity for optimal water chemistry and safety.
  • Drinking Water: Check pH and TDS levels to ensure water quality.
  • Hydroponics: Measure pH and EC to ensure nutrient solutions are balanced for plant growth.

10. Troubleshooting

10.1. Inaccurate Readings

  • Issue: Readings are inconsistent or significantly different from expected values.
  • Solution: Re-calibrate the tester according to the instructions in Section 6. Ensure the electrode is clean and properly stored. Check if the calibration solutions are expired.

10.2. Display Not Working

  • Issue: The screen is blank or shows garbled characters.
  • Solution: Check the batteries. Replace them if they are low or depleted. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.

10.3. Slow Response Time

  • Issue: The tester takes a long time to stabilize readings.
  • Solution: Clean the electrode thoroughly. Ensure the electrode is not dry; if it has been stored dry, rehydrate it in storage solution or pH 7.00 buffer for several hours.
