4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Power On/Off
The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's ignition is turned on. It will power off automatically when the ignition is turned off.
4.2. Basic Recording
Upon powering on, the device will automatically start loop recording. Older files will be overwritten by new recordings once the MicroSD card is full, ensuring continuous recording. Important files saved by the G-sensor will not be overwritten.
4.3. Touch Screen Operations
The 11-inch touch screen allows for easy navigation of menus and settings. Swipe gestures can be used for various functions:
- Zoom Function: Swipe up or down on the screen to adjust the zoom level of the rear camera view. This allows for clearer identification of distant objects or license plates.
- Angle Adjustment: Swipe left or right on the screen to adjust the viewing angle of the camera.
- Brightness Adjustment: Access brightness settings via the on-screen menu.
- Front/Rear View Switching: Tap the screen to switch between front, rear, or split-screen views.

4.4. Voice Control
The device supports voice commands for hands-free operation. Refer to the on-screen menu or the detailed Japanese manual for a list of available commands.
5. Advanced Features
5.1. GPS Functionality
The integrated GPS module records your vehicle's speed, direction, and location along with the video footage. This data can be reviewed on a computer using dedicated software (details in the full manual) to track driving routes.

Figure 5.1: GPS data allows for playback of driving routes on a computer.
5.2. 24-Hour Parking Surveillance
When the vehicle is parked, the dash cam can monitor for impacts or vibrations. If an event is detected, it will automatically record footage, providing protection against vandalism or hit-and-runs. This feature requires a continuous power supply, often achieved with a dedicated step-down cable (sold separately).
5.3. G-Sensor (Impact Recording)
The built-in 3-axis G-sensor detects sudden impacts or collisions. When an impact is detected, the device automatically locks the current recording, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical accident footage is preserved.
5.4. Backlink Function (Reverse Assist)
When shifting into reverse, the rear camera view is automatically displayed on the screen, and the camera angle adjusts downwards to show the area directly behind the vehicle. Adjustable guidelines are provided to assist with parking. The length and angle of these guidelines can be customized to suit your vehicle.

5.5. Super Night Vision with HDR/WDR
Equipped with an F1.8 bright lens and the Sony IMX415 sensor, combined with HDR (High Dynamic Range) and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technologies, the DC409 provides superior night vision. It captures clear details in both extremely bright and dark areas, ensuring license plates and other critical information are visible even in low-light conditions or against strong headlights.

Figure 5.3: Comparison of video quality with and without HDR/WDR in challenging lighting.
5.6. AI ISP Technology
The Artificial Intelligence Image Signal Processor (AI ISP) enhances image processing efficiency, maintaining clarity and stability across various driving conditions. This technology effectively reduces blur and ghosting, and processes data internally to protect user privacy.
5.7. Type-C Power Connection
The DC409 utilizes a Type-C power cable, offering improved stability, convenience, durability, and heat resistance compared to older Type-B connections. This design minimizes issues such as power interruptions or device restarts.

5.8. TS Format Recording
The device records in TS (MPEG2-TS) format, which provides faster transfer speeds and enhanced data integrity. This format helps prevent recording errors and data loss, allowing for more reliable long-term storage of footage.
5.9. LED Signal Compatibility
The DC409 is designed to accurately record LED traffic lights across Japan, regardless of regional power frequency differences. This ensures that the color of traffic lights is clearly captured in recordings, which can be crucial for accident analysis.
6. Maintenance
6.1. MicroSD Card Care
Regularly format the MicroSD card (e.g., once a month) to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Use only high-quality Class 10 or higher MicroSD cards. Replace the card if you notice any recording issues or errors.
6.2. Cleaning
Wipe the camera lenses and screen with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and smudges. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the surfaces.
