4. Setup and Installation
The Garvee Manual Retractable Awning requires assembly and secure installation. Due to its size and the need for secure mounting, professional installation is recommended. If installing yourself, ensure you have the necessary tools and assistance.
- Site Selection: Choose a suitable location on your patio, window, or door frame that can support the weight of the awning and withstand wind loads. Ensure there is sufficient clearance for extension and retraction.
- Mounting the Main Frame: Securely attach the main awning frame to a sturdy wall or overhead structure using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure the mounting surface is capable of holding the load.
- Assembling Support Poles: Connect the support poles to the main frame. The poles feature anti-skid pads at the bottom and an adjustable base for stability on uneven surfaces.
- Attaching Fabric: Carefully attach the polyester fabric to the frame according to the detailed assembly instructions provided in the separate assembly guide.
- Initial Adjustment: Perform initial height and angle adjustments as described in Section 6.

5. Operating Instructions
The Garvee awning is operated manually using the provided crank handle.
- To Extend the Awning: Insert the crank handle into the designated loop or hook on the awning mechanism. Rotate the handle clockwise to extend the awning fabric. Continue rotating until the desired extension is reached, or until the awning is fully extended.
- To Retract the Awning: Insert the crank handle into the designated loop or hook. Rotate the handle counter-clockwise to retract the awning fabric. Continue rotating until the awning is fully retracted and secured against the wall.
- Important: Do not force the crank handle if you encounter resistance. Check for obstructions or tangled fabric. Always retract the awning during adverse weather conditions.
6. Adjustments
The awning allows for angle and height adjustments to optimize shade and coverage.
- Angle Adjustment: The awning's projection angle can be adjusted from 0 to 90 degrees. Locate the angle adjustment mechanism on the support arms (refer to Figure 3.1). Loosen the locking mechanism, set the desired angle, and securely tighten the lock.
- Height Adjustment: The support poles are height adjustable, typically ranging from 83 inches to 122 inches. Locate the height adjustment clamps on the support poles (refer to Figure 3.1). Loosen the clamps, slide the pole to the desired height, and securely fasten the clamps. Ensure both poles are adjusted to the same height for even support.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your Garvee awning.
- Cleaning the Fabric: The awning fabric is made of 180g polyester with PU coating, offering waterproof, windproof, and UV protection properties. Clean the fabric periodically with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before retracting. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Frame Maintenance: Inspect the steel frame for any signs of rust or damage. Clean the frame with a damp cloth. Lubricate moving parts (e.g., crank mechanism) annually with a silicone-based lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
- Winter Storage: In areas with heavy snow or ice, it is recommended to retract the awning completely during winter months to prevent damage from accumulation.
