3.2. High-Pressure Test Hoses

The kit includes six high-pressure test hoses, each 5.4 ft (1.66 m) long. Two extension connectors are provided, allowing two hoses to be chained together for an extended reach of up to 10.8 ft (3.32 m). Hoses feature M16*2 male threads for connection to test points and BSP 1/4" (G1/4) for connection to the hydraulic gauge.

4. Safety Information

WARNING: Hydraulic systems operate under extremely high pressure. Improper handling can result in severe injury or death. Always follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Always depressurize the hydraulic system before connecting or disconnecting any test equipment.
  • Wear safety glasses, gloves, and other appropriate PPE.
  • Ensure all connections are tight and secure before applying pressure.
  • Never exceed the maximum pressure rating of any component in the test kit or the system being tested.
  • Do not use damaged or worn components. Inspect hoses, gauges, and fittings before each use.
  • Keep hands and body clear of potential leak points when the system is under pressure.
  • Consult the machinery's service manual for specific hydraulic system testing procedures and safety precautions.

5. Setup Instructions

  1. Identify Test Point: Locate the hydraulic test port on the machinery you intend to test. Refer to the machinery's service manual for exact locations.
  2. Depressurize System: Ensure the hydraulic system is completely depressurized before proceeding. This is critical for safety.
  3. Select Components:
    • Choose the appropriate Test Coupling from the kit that matches the machinery's test port. Use the engraved markings and protective caps for identification.
    • Select a Hydraulic Pressure Gauge with a maximum pressure rating suitable for the expected pressure of the system. It is recommended to use a gauge where the expected operating pressure falls within the middle third of the gauge's range for optimal accuracy.
    • Choose a High-Pressure Test Hose. If additional reach is needed, connect two hoses using an Extension Connector.
    • If testing a tee-off point, select the appropriate Tee Connector.
  4. Connect Hose to Gauge: Securely screw the BSP 1/4" (G1/4) end of the test hose to the selected hydraulic pressure gauge. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a snug fit, but do not overtighten.
  5. Connect Coupling/Tee to Hose: Attach the M16*2 end of the test hose to the chosen test coupling or tee connector. Ensure a secure, leak-free connection.
  6. Connect to Machinery: Carefully connect the assembled test setup (gauge, hose, coupling/tee) to the hydraulic test port on the machinery. Ensure the connection is fully seated and tightened to prevent leaks.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Verify Connections: Double-check all connections for tightness and security before starting the machinery.
  2. Start Machinery: Carefully start the hydraulic machinery according to its operational manual.
  3. Gradually Apply Pressure: Slowly bring the hydraulic system up to the desired operating pressure. Observe the pressure gauge for readings.
  4. Monitor Readings: Read the pressure directly from the gauge. The liquid-filled design helps dampen pulsations for stable readings.
  5. Record Data: Note down pressure readings as required for diagnostic purposes.
  6. Depressurize System: After testing, slowly and completely depressurize the hydraulic system before disconnecting any components.
  7. Disconnect Equipment: Once the system is at zero pressure, carefully disconnect the test setup from the machinery, then disassemble the hose from the gauge and coupling/tee.

Note: For specific testing procedures (e.g., pump pressure, relief valve settings, cylinder drift), always refer to the manufacturer's service manual for the machinery being tested.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down all components with a clean cloth to remove hydraulic fluid and debris.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect hoses for cuts, abrasions, or bulges. Check gauges for cracked glass or bent needles. Examine couplings and connectors for damaged threads or O-rings. Replace any damaged components immediately.
  • Storage: Store all components neatly in the provided heavy-duty PP storage case. Ensure protective caps are on all couplings and connectors to prevent contamination and damage. Store in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures.
