CITIZEN Eco-Drive Zenshin Watch

Model: AW0130-85A Instruction Manual

Introduction

Thank you for choosing a CITIZEN Eco-Drive Zenshin watch. This timepiece combines classic design with advanced Eco-Drive technology, ensuring reliable performance powered by any light source. Crafted from Super Titanium, it offers exceptional durability and comfort. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your watch.

Setup

Initial Charging

Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before initial use, ensure the watch is fully charged by exposing the dial to bright light (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot environments to prevent damage.

Setting the Time and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2: This will stop the second hand.
  2. Rotate the crown: Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set for the day/date change. The day and date will change around midnight.
  3. Push the crown back to position 0: The second hand will resume movement.

To set the day and date independently, pull the crown out to position 1 and rotate it. One direction adjusts the date, the other adjusts the day. Once set, push the crown back to position 0.

Bracelet Adjustment

The Super Titanium bracelet is designed for comfort. For proper fit, it may require professional adjustment by a qualified jeweler or CITIZEN service center. Incorrect adjustment can lead to discomfort or damage to the bracelet.

Operating the Watch

Eco-Drive Technology

Your watch features CITIZEN's proprietary Eco-Drive technology, which converts any light source (natural or artificial) into electrical energy. This energy is stored in a rechargeable power cell, eliminating the need for battery replacement. Keep the watch exposed to light regularly to maintain optimal charge.

Day/Date Display

The watch features a combined day-date window at the 3 o'clock position. The day of the week and the date will automatically advance at midnight once correctly set. Ensure the time is set accurately to avoid the day/date changing at noon instead of midnight.

Water Resistance (WR100/10 Bar/333ft)

This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 Bar or 333 feet). This rating makes it suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. It is not recommended for scuba diving or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

Wipe the watch case and bracelet periodically with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Charging Guidelines

To maintain optimal performance, expose your watch to light regularly. If stored in darkness for extended periods, the watch may stop. A full charge can last for several months in darkness, but regular light exposure is recommended. Avoid extreme temperatures during charging.

Storage

When storing your watch for an extended period, ensure it is placed in an area where it can receive light, or periodically expose it to light to prevent it from running out of charge. Store it away from strong magnetic fields and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch has stopped or is losing time: This typically indicates insufficient charge. Expose the watch to bright light for several hours to fully recharge it.
  • Day/Date changes at noon: The AM/PM setting is incorrect. Reset the time, ensuring that the day/date changes around midnight.
  • Condensation inside the crystal: If condensation appears and does not dissipate quickly, this may indicate a seal issue. Contact a qualified service center immediately.
