3. Taking Measurements
To take a measurement:
- Ensure the device is powered on and the desired measurement mode is selected.
- Immerse the probe into the water sample, ensuring the electrodes are fully submerged.
- Gently stir the device to remove any air bubbles.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize on the display.
- Press the HOLD button to freeze the reading on the screen for easier recording. Press again to release.
- After measurement, rinse the probe with clean water and dry it before replacing the protective cap.
4. Temperature Unit Conversion
Press the °C/°F button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
5. pH Calibration
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your pH readings. It is recommended to calibrate the pH function regularly, especially after prolonged storage or if readings appear inaccurate. Always calibrate pH 7.0 first, then pH 4.0 or pH 10.0.
- Preparation: Ensure the device is in pH mode. Clean the probe with clean water and dry it. Prepare the pH 7.00, pH 4.00, and pH 10.01 buffer solutions.
- Calibrate pH 7.00: Immerse the probe into the pH 7.00 buffer solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize. Long press the MODE/CAL button for 5 seconds until "CAL" appears on the screen. The display will flash "7.0". Once stable, the flashing will stop, indicating successful calibration. Clean and dry the probe.
- Calibrate pH 4.00: Immerse the probe into the pH 4.00 buffer solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize. Long press the MODE/CAL button for 5 seconds until "CAL" appears. The display will flash "4.0". Once stable, the flashing will stop. Clean and dry the probe.
- Calibrate pH 10.01 (Optional): If your application requires high pH measurements, immerse the probe into the pH 10.01 buffer solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize. Long press the MODE/CAL button for 5 seconds until "CAL" appears. The display will flash "10.0". Once stable, the flashing will stop. Clean and dry the probe.

6. Specific Applications
The GIDIGI tester is versatile for various water testing needs:
- Pools and Spas: Monitor FAC (Free Chlorine), pH, and ORP to ensure safe and disinfected water. Ideal FAC range is 1-3 mg/L, pH 7.2-7.6.
- Hydroponics: Measure EC and pH to optimize nutrient absorption for plant growth. Optimal pH for most hydroponic plants is 5.5-6.5.
- Drinking Water: Check TDS levels to assess water purity and filter efficiency.
- Aquariums and Koi Ponds: Monitor salinity, pH, and ORP for a healthy aquatic environment.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Probe
After each use, or if the probe appears dirty:
- Rinse the probe thoroughly with clean, distilled, or deionized water.
- Gently wipe the probe with a soft, lint-free cloth or tissue to remove any water droplets or residue. Do not rub vigorously.
- Avoid touching the sensor directly with your fingers, as oils can affect readings.
2. Storage
Proper storage is crucial for maintaining probe longevity and accuracy:
- Always replace the protective cap after use.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, ensure the probe is kept moist with a few drops of pH storage solution or pH 7.0 buffer solution in the protective cap. Do not store dry.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings | Probe is dirty or dry; calibration is needed; expired buffer solutions. | Clean the probe; perform pH calibration; use fresh buffer solutions. |
| Slow response time | Probe is dirty or aged. | Clean the probe thoroughly; consider replacing the device if the issue persists after cleaning and calibration. |
| Display not turning on | Low or dead batteries; device malfunction. | Replace batteries; if still not working, contact customer support. |
| Readings fluctuate excessively | Air bubbles around the probe; electrical interference; unstable sample. | Gently stir the probe to remove bubbles; ensure no strong electrical fields nearby; allow sample to stabilize. |
