1. Introduction

The RIDERNAV R7M is a 7-inch smart display designed for BMW motorcycles, offering seamless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This device provides navigation, music, communication, and vehicle data directly on your motorcycle's dashboard. It is engineered for durability and ease of use in various riding conditions.

2. Key Features

3. Setup

3.1. Mounting the Device

The R7M is designed for plug-and-play fitment into BMW Nav cradles (Nav Prep 5/6). Ensure your motorcycle has the original BMW navigation mount. The device is powered seamlessly without extra cables when docked.

3.2. Square Bracket Installation

If using the square bracket for mounting, follow these steps:

1. Remove the screws of the ball on the moto screen. (Note: Screws on the back of the moto screen cannot be removed to expose the internal chip.)
2. Align the square bracket holes with the screw holes of the moto screen.
3. Put the screws of the ball in the middle and tighten them.
4. Finally, align the other square bracket and close it, and tighten it with screws.

3.3. Initial Power-On and Setup

After mounting, turn on your motorcycle's ignition. The R7M should power on automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language and connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for CarPlay/Android Auto functionality.

4. Operating the R7M

4.1. Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto

The R7M supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Once connected, your phone's navigation, music, and communication apps will be mirrored on the 7-inch display. The system offers a seamless, automatic connection.

4.2. Native BMW Wonder Wheel Control

For BMW motorcycles with Nav Prep 5/6, the R7M integrates with your BMW Wonder Wheel, allowing you to scroll, switch, and confirm actions without removing your hand from the handlebar. This provides a native and intuitive control experience.

4.3. Displaying OEM Vehicle Data

The R7M can display real-time OEM metrics from your BMW, including RPM, tire pressure, lean angle, range, voltage, coolant temperature, and service intervals. This helps you stay informed about your motorcycle's status.

4.4. Action Camera Control & Smart Notifications

Control compatible action cameras (DJI, Insta360, GoPro) directly from the R7M display. For iOS users, smart notifications for calls and messages from various apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Telegram, Skype, LINE) are displayed discreetly.

4.5. Music Playback

Stream music from platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. Control playback (play/pause, skip, volume) directly from the R7M or using your BMW wheel controls. Connect your helmet or Bluetooth earphones for private audio.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning and Care

To ensure the lens glass is clean and free from objects that may scratch it, use a soft, dry cloth to clean the lens. Avoid using detergents or organic solvents, as these may cause corrosion, loss of waterproof performance, and failure of protective coating.

5.2. Software Updates

Keep your system updated with convenient Over-The-Air (OTA) Wi-Fi software updates. These updates provide continuous feature enhancements and optimized performance. Note that OTA updates require a memory card (not included with R7M).

6.1. OEM Data Readout Discrepancies

The OEM motorcycle data displayed on the R7M is provided by your BMW. Availability varies by model and configuration. For example, lean angle requires a built-in BMW lean angle sensor; if your motorcycle lacks this sensor—or if BMW's communication protocol does not expose this data—the R7M cannot display the value. These limitations are defined by the motorcycle and cannot be overridden by the R7M.

6.2. OTA Update Requirements

If OTA updates fail, ensure a memory card is inserted into the R7M. The device requires a memory card (not included with R7M) to perform software updates.
