Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild neutral detergent, then wipe dry. Avoid using volatile agents like thinner or benzine, as they may damage the resin components.

Water Resistance

The AE-1700H is 100-meter water resistant (10 ATM). This means it is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and active water sports. Do not operate buttons while the watch is wet or submerged. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise the water resistance seals.

Battery Replacement

The watch uses a CR2032 battery with an approximate 10-year life. When the display becomes dim or functions become erratic, it may be time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Casio service center to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

Troubleshooting

Display is Blank or Dim

  • Cause: Low battery.
  • Solution: Replace the battery. Refer to the "Battery Replacement" section.

Buttons are Unresponsive

  • Cause: Watch may be in a frozen state or water ingress.
  • Solution: Try pressing all buttons simultaneously for a few seconds to attempt a soft reset. If the issue persists, or if the watch was recently exposed to water, contact Casio customer support.

Time is Incorrect

  • Cause: Time settings were accidentally changed, or battery is low.
  • Solution: Re-adjust the time and date settings as described in the "Setting the Time and Date" section. If the problem recurs frequently, consider battery replacement.
