4.2 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain

Always ensure the battery is removed before installing or changing the guide bar and chain.

  1. Remove the chain cover by loosening the knob.
  2. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the guide bar).
  3. Fit the chain and guide bar onto the chainsaw body, aligning the chain with the drive sprocket.
  4. Replace the chain cover and lightly tighten the knob.
  5. Adjust the chain tension using the provided screwdriver. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled around the guide bar by hand. A properly tensioned chain allows for 3-5 teeth of movement when pulled away from the guide bar.
  6. Once tension is set, fully tighten the chain cover knob.

Video 4.2: This video provides a tutorial on adjusting the chain tension for optimal performance and safety.

4.3 Adding Chain Oil

The chainsaw features an auto-oiling system. Ensure the oil reservoir is filled before each use to maintain chain lubrication.

  1. Locate the oil reservoir cap on the chainsaw body.
  2. Unscrew the cap and carefully fill the reservoir with appropriate chain lubricant (not included). Use the provided empty oil can for easy pouring.
  3. Do not overfill. Securely replace the cap.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Chain Sharpening

A sharp chain is crucial for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Refer to the chain manufacturer's instructions for proper sharpening techniques and file sizes.

6.2 Chain Lubrication

The auto-oiling system requires regular refilling of the oil reservoir. Check the oil level before each use and refill as needed with quality chain lubricant.

6.3 Cleaning

After each use, clean the chainsaw to remove sawdust, debris, and resin buildup.

  • Use a brush or compressed air to clean the motor housing and ventilation slots.
  • Wipe down the guide bar and chain. Remove any caked-on sawdust from the chain groove.
  • Ensure the oil port is clear of debris.

6.4 Storage

Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children. Remove the battery before storing for extended periods. Use the provided carrying case for organized storage and protection.
