5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert the two AAA batteries (included), ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals match the indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Test Strip Insertion

  1. Ensure your hands are clean and dry.
  2. Remove a CareSens N test strip from its vial. Close the vial immediately to protect the remaining strips from moisture.
  3. Insert the test strip into the test strip port of the meter. The meter will automatically turn on and display a flashing blood drop symbol, indicating it is ready for a blood sample.

The CareSens N Voice Square meter utilizes a 'no-coding' technology. This means there is no need to manually calibrate the meter with a code chip, simplifying the testing process and reducing potential user errors.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Preparing the Lancing Device

  1. Unscrew the lancing device cap.
  2. Insert a new lancet firmly into the lancet holder.
  3. Twist off the protective cap from the lancet.
  4. Replace the lancing device cap.
  5. Adjust the penetration depth setting on the lancing device according to your skin type (e.g., 1-2 for soft skin, 3-4 for average, 5 for thick or calloused skin).
  6. Pull back the cocking control until it clicks, indicating the device is ready to use.

6.2 Performing a Blood Glucose Test

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely.
  2. Insert a CareSens N test strip into the meter. The meter will turn on and display a flashing blood drop symbol.
  3. Place the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button.
  4. Gently squeeze your finger until a small drop of blood forms.
  5. Touch the pointed inlet of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip.
  6. The meter will begin counting down from 5 seconds. The result will be displayed on the screen and announced via voice guidance.

6.3 Ejecting Used Test Strip

After obtaining your result, point the meter downwards towards a sharps container or waste bin. Slide the strip ejector button to automatically release the used test strip without direct contact.

7.1 Cleaning the Meter

To clean the meter, gently wipe its exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the meter in water or use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as this can damage the device. Ensure no liquid enters the test strip port or data port.
