Before powering on the device, ensure all necessary connections are made. Refer to the diagram below for port identification.

Figure 1: Rear Panel Connections for ZMEGTURQ PoE Video Recorders (4CH, 8CH, 10CH models)
This image displays the rear panel of three different ZMEGTURQ PoE Video Recorder models: 4-channel (4CH), 8-channel (8CH), and 10-channel (10CH). Each model features a power switch (ON/OFF), a DC 52/48V power input, multiple PoE ports for camera connections, a LAN port for network connectivity, an A-OUT port for audio output, a VGA port for video output, an HD-port (HDMI) for high-definition video output, and USB ports for peripherals like a mouse or external storage.
- Power Input (DC 52/48V): Connect the provided power adapter to this port. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
- ON/OFF Switch: Controls the power supply to the recorder.
- PoE Ports (4CH/8CH): These ports provide both power and data connection for your PoE IP cameras. Connect your cameras directly to these ports using Ethernet cables. The 4CH model has 4 PoE ports, and the 8CH model has 8 PoE ports.
- LAN Port: Connect an Ethernet cable from this port to your network router or switch for network access and remote viewing.
- A-OUT: Audio output port for connecting to external speakers or an audio system.
- VGA Port: Connect a VGA monitor to this port for video display.
- HD-port (HDMI): Connect an HDMI-compatible monitor or TV to this port for high-definition video display.
- USB Ports: Connect a USB mouse for local control and navigation. These ports can also be used for connecting USB flash drives for data backup or firmware upgrades.
3. Initial Power On
After all connections are secure, switch the ON/OFF button to the ON position. The recorder will boot up. Follow the on-screen instructions for the initial setup wizard, which typically includes setting up a password, date/time, and network settings.
Operating Instructions
1. Accessing Live View
Once the system is booted, the live view of connected cameras should appear on the connected monitor. Use the USB mouse to navigate the on-screen interface.
2. Recording Configuration
Access the 'Record' settings from the main menu. Here you can configure recording schedules (continuous, motion detection, alarm-triggered) and recording quality for each camera. Ensure the internal hard drive is properly initialized and formatted for recording.
3. Playback
To review recorded footage, select 'Playback' from the main menu. You can search for recordings by date, time, and event type. Use the playback controls to fast forward, rewind, and pause.
4. Network Configuration and Remote Access
Navigate to 'Network Settings' in the system menu. Configure the IP address (DHCP or Static IP) and port forwarding if necessary for remote access. Download the official mobile application or client software for remote viewing on your smartphone or computer.
Maintenance
1. Firmware Updates
Periodically check the manufacturer's website for firmware updates. Updating the firmware can improve system stability, add new features, and address security vulnerabilities. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing a firmware update, typically involving downloading the firmware to a USB drive and updating via the system menu.
2. Hard Drive Management
Regularly check the status of the internal hard drive through the system menu. If the hard drive is full, older recordings may be overwritten (if configured for continuous recording). You may need to format the hard drive periodically, which will erase all data. Back up important footage before formatting.
3. Cleaning
Keep the recorder free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents. Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
