TECHTONGDA Button Tensile Testing Machine

Model: L238029

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation of the TECHTONGDA Button Tensile Testing Machine, Model L238029. This device is designed to accurately measure the fastening force or breaking force of buttons, snaps, and other fasteners on textile products by applying a uniform vertical tension. It is equipped with various fixtures to accommodate different product types, ensuring precise and reliable test results.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Power Supply: Ensure the machine is connected to an AC220V power source. Verify the power switch is off before connecting or disconnecting the power cable.
  • Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop switch location (refer to Section 3.2) and its operation. In case of any malfunction or unsafe condition, immediately press the emergency stop switch.
  • Fixture Installation: Always ensure fixtures are securely installed before beginning any test. Improperly installed fixtures can lead to inaccurate results or damage to the machine.
  • Limit Switches: The machine is equipped with upper and lower limit switches to prevent fixture collision and protect the sensor. Do not attempt to bypass or modify these safety features.
  • Weight and Stability: The machine weighs approximately 154 lbs (70 kg). Ensure it is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.
  • Sensor Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum force capacity of the sensor (500N). Overloading can cause permanent damage to the sensor.

4. Setup and Installation

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  2. Placement: Place the machine on a sturdy, level workbench or floor capable of supporting its weight (approx. 154 lbs / 70 kg). Ensure adequate space around the machine for operation and maintenance.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the AC220V power interface on the machine and then to a suitable power outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
  4. Fixture Installation:
    • Select the appropriate upper and lower fixtures for your test.
    • Install the upper fixture into the designated slot, ensuring it is securely fastened.
    • Install the lower fixture onto the base, ensuring it is stable and correctly aligned.
  5. Limit Switch Adjustment: The machine features adjustable upper and lower limit switches. Set these endpoints to prevent the fixtures from colliding and to protect the sensor during operation. Adjust them based on the expected test stroke and fixture height.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: After ensuring all connections are secure and fixtures are installed, turn on the main power switch. The display screen should illuminate.
  2. Parameter Settings: Use the control panel and display screen to set the desired test parameters:
    • Force Value Resolution: Typically 0.01N.
    • Displacement Resolution: Typically 0.0004" (0.01mm).
    • Test Speed: Adjustable from 0.4-19.68 in/min (10-500 mm/min). Select a speed appropriate for the material being tested.
    • Units: Select desired force units (Kgf, N, lbf, gf) and variant units (mm, cm, in).
  3. Sample Placement: Carefully place the button or fastener to be tested into the lower fixture. Ensure it is centered and securely held.
  4. Initiate Test: Start the test sequence via the control panel. The upper fixture will move downwards to engage the sample and apply tension.
  5. Monitor Test: Observe the display screen for real-time force and displacement readings. The machine will automatically stop when the set force limit is reached or the sample breaks.
  6. Record Results: After the test is complete, the results will be displayed. Use the built-in micro printer to print a physical record of the test data and curves.
  7. Remove Sample: Once the test is complete and data recorded, carefully remove the tested sample from the fixtures.
  8. Repeat or Power Off: You can proceed with another test or power off the machine if testing is complete.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the machine's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Fixture Inspection: Periodically inspect all fixtures for wear, damage, or deformation. Replace any damaged fixtures to ensure accurate testing.
  • Lubrication: Moving parts, such as the vertical column mechanism, may require occasional light lubrication. Consult a qualified technician if unsure.
  • Sensor Calibration: For continued accuracy, the force sensor should be calibrated periodically by a certified professional.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the machine in a clean, dry environment, protected from dust and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Machine Does Not Power On:
    • Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the machine and the power outlet.
    • Verify the power outlet is functional.
    • Check the fuse (refer to Figure 3.2). Replace if blown.
  • Fixture Not Moving:
    • Ensure the machine is powered on and not in emergency stop mode.
    • Check if the limit switches are properly set and not preventing movement prematurely.
    • Verify that a test program has been initiated.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure fixtures are clean and free of debris.
    • Verify the sample is correctly placed and securely clamped.
    • Consider professional calibration of the sensor if inaccuracies persist.
  • Printer Not Working:
    • Check if the printer has paper.
    • Ensure the printer is properly connected internally (if accessible) or consult support.
