3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your KVM switch:

  1. Power Connection: Connect the included 12V/2A power adapter to the DC 12V port on the KVM switch. Ensure the KVM switch is powered on.
  2. Monitor Connections: Connect your two monitors to the "Monitor A" and "Monitor B" HDMI output ports on the KVM switch.
  3. Computer Connections (HDMI): For each computer (up to 10), connect two HDMI cables from the computer's video outputs to the corresponding "HD A" and "HD B" input ports on the KVM switch (e.g., PC1's HDMI outputs to HD A1 and HD B1).
  4. Computer Connections (USB): For each computer, connect one USB 3.0 cable from a USB port on the computer to the corresponding "USB 3.0" input port on the KVM switch (e.g., PC1's USB to USB 3.0 A1).
  5. Peripheral Connections: Connect your keyboard, mouse, and other USB peripheral devices (e.g., printer, U disk) to the USB 3.0 ports on the front panel of the KVM switch.
  6. Audio Connection: If desired, connect headphones or speakers to the Audio output port.
  7. Wired Remote Connection: Connect the wired remote control to the "Wired Remote" port for convenient switching.
  8. RS232 Connection (Optional): For RS232 control, connect an RS232 serial cable (not included) to the RS232 port.
  9. EDID Switch Setting: Locate the "EDID" switch on the front panel, labeled "2K/4K". For ultrawide monitors or higher resolutions, ensure this switch is set to "4K". For standard 2K resolutions, "2K" may be sufficient.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Switching Between Computers

The KVM switch offers three methods for switching between connected computers:

  • Front Panel Buttons: Press the numbered buttons (1-10) on the front panel corresponding to the PC you wish to switch to. The LED indicator will show the active computer.
  • Wired Remote Control: Use the included wired remote control to select the desired PC. The remote features a digital screen display.
  • RS232 Commands: For automated switching, send RS232 commands to the KVM switch. The baud rate should be set to 115200. Refer to the table below for commands:

4.2 EDID Emulation Function

The EDID emulation feature helps maintain your display's window arrangement when switching between computers. To toggle this function:

  • Press and hold the switch button "1" on the front panel for 3 seconds. This will turn the EDID emulation function ON or OFF as required.

4.3 Monitor Output Modes

The KVM switch supports two output modes for your dual monitors:

  • Extended Mode: Outputs two different screens, allowing for an extended desktop experience across both monitors.
  • Mirror Mode (Copy Mode): Outputs two identical screens, duplicating the display content on both monitors.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, which may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Environment: Operate the KVM switch in a dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Power: Always use the provided 12V/2A power adapter. Disconnect power when the device is not in use for extended periods.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are securely connected and not under excessive strain. Proper cable management can prevent accidental disconnections and damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • No Display or Incorrect Resolution:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
    • Verify that the HDMI cables used are of sufficient quality and support the desired resolution (e.g., HDMI 2.0 for 4K@60Hz). Using mismatched cable versions (e.g., HDMI 2.1 from PC to KVM, but HDMI 2.0 from KVM to monitor) can cause issues.
    • Check the "EDID" switch on the front panel and set it to "4K" if you are using ultrawide or 4K monitors.
    • Try power cycling the KVM switch and the connected computers.
  • USB Devices Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB 3.0 cables from the computers to the KVM switch are properly connected.
    • Verify that the USB peripheral devices are connected to the USB 3.0 ports on the KVM switch.
    • Some mini PCs or specific systems might require a power cycle of the KVM switch to re-establish USB connections.
  • Mac Compatibility Issues (Display Blackouts):
    • macOS systems, particularly M-series, may experience display blackouts or failure to re-detect displays when switching. This is a known macOS behavior with KVMs.
    • A common solution is to use external EDID emulators for Mac computers to ensure consistent display detection.
  • RS232 Control Not Working:
    • Ensure you are using a true RS232 serial cable that outputs correct voltage levels (±12V), not a TTL (0-5V) adapter.
    • Verify the baud rate is set to 115200.
    • Check the RS232 command syntax for accuracy.
  • KVM Switch Not Powering On:
    • Confirm the 12V/2A power adapter is correctly plugged into the KVM switch and a working power outlet.
    • Ensure the power switch on the KVM is in the ON position.
