6. DPI and Polling Rate Adjustment
The trackball allows for on-the-fly adjustment of DPI (Dots Per Inch) and polling rate to match your precision and speed requirements.
- DPI Settings: Adjust cursor sensitivity with settings of 400, 800, 1200, and 1600 DPI using the dedicated DPI button on the side of the trackball. Higher DPI settings result in faster pointer movement.
- Polling Rate: The polling rate determines how many times per second the device reports its position to the computer. The TB800 EQ supports up to 1000Hz polling rate via wired or 2.4GHz dongle connection, providing ultra-responsive performance. Bluetooth mode supports lower polling rates.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Trackball
To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean the trackball and its housing. Gently remove the 55mm ball from its socket. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the ball and the inside of the trackball cavity, removing any dust or debris that may accumulate on the optical sensors.
7.2 Battery Care
The trackball features a rechargeable battery. For best battery life, avoid extreme temperatures and fully charge the device when the battery indicator is low.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Kensington Expert Mouse TB800 EQ, try the following:
- No Cursor Movement: Ensure the trackball is powered on and properly connected (wired, 2.4GHz dongle, or Bluetooth paired). Check battery level. Clean the trackball and sensors as described in the Maintenance section.
- Intermittent Connection: For wireless connections, ensure the trackball is within range of your device. Check for interference from other wireless devices. Re-pair Bluetooth connections or re-insert the 2.4GHz dongle.
- Buttons Not Responding: Verify that the Kensington Konnect software is installed and configured correctly. Check for any accidental disabling of scroll wheels via the switches on the underside of the trackball.
- Scrolling Issues: If scrolling is not smooth or responsive, clean the scroll ring and ensure no debris is obstructing its movement.
