Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Asvine P50 Piston Fountain Pen. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your new writing instrument. The Asvine P50 is designed for a smooth writing experience and features a high-capacity piston filling system.
1. Setup
1.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Upon opening the package, ensure all components are present: the Asvine P50 fountain pen, a pen case, an instruction manual, and a maintenance wrench. Inspect the pen for any visible damage.

1.2 Filling the Pen with Ink (Piston Mechanism)
The Asvine P50 utilizes a piston filling system, which draws ink directly from a bottle.
- Prepare the Pen: Ensure the pen is clean and dry. Unscrew the cap and set it aside.
- Retract the Piston: Hold the pen with the nib pointing upwards. Turn the piston knob at the end of the barrel counter-clockwise until the piston is fully retracted towards the knob.
- Submerge the Nib: Dip the entire nib and a portion of the feed into your bottled fountain pen ink. Ensure the ink level covers the breather hole on the nib.
- Draw Ink: Slowly turn the piston knob clockwise. This will push air out and draw ink into the barrel. Continue until the piston reaches the end of its travel.
- Expel Air (Optional, for maximum fill): Turn the piston knob counter-clockwise slightly to expel a few drops of ink back into the bottle. Then, turn it clockwise again to draw in more ink, filling any air bubbles. Repeat this step once or twice for a maximum fill.
- Clean Excess Ink: Carefully remove the nib from the ink bottle. Wipe any excess ink from the nib and grip section with a soft, lint-free cloth or tissue.
- Cap the Pen: Re-cap the pen securely.
Note: The pen does not come with ink. Use only fountain pen specific ink. Avoid India ink, calligraphy ink, or drawing ink, as these can clog the pen's feed system.
2. Operating the Pen
2.1 Writing
Hold the Asvine P50 fountain pen at a comfortable angle, typically between 40 and 55 degrees to the paper. Apply light pressure; fountain pens are designed to write with minimal force. The medium nib is engineered for a smooth writing experience.

2.2 Monitoring Ink Levels
The Asvine P50 features a transparent ink window in the barrel, allowing you to easily monitor the remaining ink supply. This helps prevent unexpected running out of ink during use.
3. Maintenance
3.1 Regular Cleaning
To ensure optimal performance and prevent ink clogs, regular cleaning is recommended, especially when changing ink colors or if the pen will be stored for an extended period.
- Empty Ink: If the pen contains ink, expel it back into the bottle or onto a tissue by turning the piston knob clockwise.
- Rinse: Fill a glass with clean, cool water. Submerge the nib and feed into the water. Turn the piston knob counter-clockwise to draw water into the barrel, then clockwise to expel it. Repeat this process until the expelled water runs clear.
- Dry: Gently blot the nib and feed with a lint-free cloth or tissue. Allow the pen to air dry completely before refilling or storing.
3.2 Deep Cleaning (Using the Wrench)
For a more thorough cleaning or if the piston mechanism becomes stiff, you can disassemble the piston unit using the provided wrench.
- Empty and Rinse: Perform a regular cleaning as described above.
- Disassemble Piston: Fully extend the piston by turning the knob counter-clockwise. Locate the two small holes on the piston mechanism at the end of the barrel. Insert the prongs of the maintenance wrench into these holes. Gently turn the wrench counter-clockwise to unscrew and remove the entire piston assembly.
- Clean Components: Rinse all disassembled parts (barrel, piston assembly, nib, and feed if removed) under cool running water. A soft brush can be used for stubborn ink residue.
- Lubricate (Optional): If the piston feels stiff, apply a tiny amount of pure silicone grease (specifically for fountain pens) to the piston seal.
- Reassemble: Carefully screw the piston assembly back into the barrel using the wrench, turning clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten.
- Dry: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling the pen.
Caution: Handle the nib and feed with care during disassembly and reassembly to avoid damage.
