- Storage: Store the thermometer and probes in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Probe Care: Avoid bending or kinking the probe cables excessively, as this can damage the internal wiring.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display on receiver/transmitter | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Replace batteries with new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. |
| No remote connection (dashes on receiver) | Units out of range, interference, or transmitter not powered on. | Move receiver closer to transmitter. Ensure transmitter is on. Avoid large metal objects between units. Re-sync by turning both units off and on. |
| Inaccurate temperature readings | Probe not fully inserted, damaged probe, or probe tip touching bone/fat. | Ensure probe is fully inserted into the meat's thickest part, away from bone. Test probe in boiling water (212°F/100°C) or ice water (32°F/0°C). If consistently inaccurate, the probe may need replacement. |
| Alarm not sounding | Alarm volume off or target temperature not set correctly. | Check receiver settings for alarm volume. Ensure a target temperature is set and the alarm is active. |
