7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch, please observe the following maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid liquid cleaners.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the KVM switch. This may void your warranty and could cause damage.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

8.1. No Display or Black Screen

  • Check Cable Connections: Ensure all HDMI and USB cables are securely connected between the computers, KVM switch, and monitor. Loose connections are a common cause of display issues.
  • Verify Resolution Support: For 4K@60Hz output, ensure that your input devices (computers), HDMI cables, and output device (monitor) all support 4K@60Hz. Using lower-spec components may result in a lower resolution or no display.
  • Wake Computers: If a computer has gone to sleep or turned off its monitor to save energy, it may take longer for the display to appear after switching. Try wiggling the mouse or tapping keys to wake the computer.
  • Power Cycle: Power off the KVM switch (by disconnecting and reconnecting cables), monitor, and computers, then power them back on in sequence (KVM, then monitor, then computers).

8.2. USB Devices Not Working

  • USB Cable Connection: Confirm that the USB-A to USB-A 3.0 cables are correctly connected from both computers to the respective USB 3.0 (PC1) and USB 3.0 (PC2) ports on the KVM switch.
  • Reconnect Devices: Try disconnecting and reconnecting the problematic USB device (keyboard, mouse, etc.) from the KVM switch's front USB 3.0 ports.
  • Test Devices Directly: Connect the USB devices directly to your computer to confirm they are functioning correctly outside of the KVM switch.

8.3. Audio Issues

  • Audio Cable: Ensure the 3.5mm audio cable is securely connected between your speakers/headphones and the KVM switch's audio port.
  • Computer Audio Settings: Verify that the correct audio output device is selected in your computer's sound settings (e.g., 'HDMI Output' or 'USB Audio Device').
