5. Drainage Options
Your OLIXIS dehumidifier offers two methods for water removal: manual tank emptying or continuous drainage.
Figure 5.1: Dual drainage options: continuous drain hose and removable water tank.
5.1 Manual Drainage (Water Tank)
When the water tank is full, the dehumidifier will automatically shut off and an indicator light will illuminate. To empty the tank:
- Gently pull out the water tank from the front of the unit.
- Carefully carry the tank to a sink or drain.
- Pour out the collected water.
- Slide the empty water tank back into the dehumidifier until it clicks into place. The unit will resume operation.
5.2 Continuous Drainage (Drain Hose)
For continuous operation without needing to empty the tank, use the included drain hose:
- Locate the continuous drain outlet on the back or side of the dehumidifier.
- Remove the rubber stopper (if present).
- Connect one end of the 3.28 ft drain hose to the outlet. Ensure a secure connection.
- Route the other end of the hose to a suitable drain (e.g., floor drain, large bucket). Ensure the hose is sloped downwards to allow gravity to drain the water. Do not allow the hose to kink or be elevated above the drain outlet.
- The unit will now continuously drain water, bypassing the internal tank.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your dehumidifier.
6.1 Cleaning the Air Filter
The air filter should be cleaned every two weeks or more frequently depending on usage and air quality.
- Turn off the dehumidifier and unplug it from the power outlet.
- Locate the air filter cover (usually on the back or side of the unit).
- Remove the filter.
- Wash the filter with warm, soapy water, or use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before reinstalling.
- Reinsert the dry filter and close the cover.

- Remove the water tank as described in Section 5.1.
- Wash the tank with warm water and a mild detergent.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry before placing it back into the unit.
6.3 External Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the dehumidifier with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

If storing the unit for an extended period:
- Empty and clean the water tank.
- Clean the air filter.
- Unplug the power cord and coil it neatly.
- Cover the unit with a plastic bag or cloth to protect it from dust.

7. Troubleshooting
Review these common issues and solutions before contacting customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Dehumidifier does not turn on. | No power supply. Power cord not securely plugged in. Water tank is full or not properly seated. |
Check power outlet. Ensure power cord is firmly plugged in. Empty water tank and ensure it is correctly inserted. |
| No water collected. | Ambient humidity is too low. Temperature is too low (below 41°F/5°C). Air filter is clogged. Desired humidity setting is higher than ambient humidity. |
Dehumidifier may not be needed. Unit will not operate effectively in very cold conditions. Clean the air filter (Section 6.1). Lower the desired humidity setting. |
| Unit is noisy. | Unit is not on a level surface. Air filter is clogged. Obstruction in fan. |
Place on a flat, stable surface. Clean the air filter (Section 6.1). Check for and remove any obstructions. |
| Water leaks from the unit. | Water tank is not properly installed. Drain hose connection is loose or kinked (if using continuous drainage). |
Reinstall the water tank correctly. Check drain hose connection and ensure it is not kinked and is sloped downwards. |
