4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Compatibility Check

Before installation, ensure your door meets the following specifications:

  • Door Thickness: 1-3/8" to 2" (35mm to 50mm)
  • Door Hole Diameter: 2-1/8" (54mm)
  • Latch Backset: 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm)

This lock is suitable for standard American doors. It is not recommended for glass doors or doors with special designs that do not meet these specifications.

4.2. Installation Steps

Installation is straightforward and typically takes about 10 minutes with a small screwdriver. No professional tools are needed.

  1. Remove your existing door knob.
  2. Install the new latch into the door edge, ensuring it is correctly oriented.
  3. Insert the exterior knob assembly through the door hole, aligning it with the latch.
  4. Attach the interior knob assembly, securing it with the provided screws.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Adding Fingerprints (Administrator Setup)

The first fingerprint registered will automatically be designated as the administrator. The lock supports up to 100 fingerprints.

  1. Press and hold the setup button (usually located on the interior side of the knob or a small pinhole).
  2. When the indicator light turns blue, place your finger on the fingerprint sensor.
  3. Lift and place your finger repeatedly (typically 5-8 times) until the indicator light turns green, confirming successful registration.
  4. Repeat for additional administrator fingerprints or user fingerprints.

5.2. Unlocking with Fingerprint

To unlock the door using your registered fingerprint:

  1. Place your registered finger on the sensor.
  2. The indicator light will turn green upon successful recognition.
  3. Turn the door knob to open the door.

5.3. Unlocking with Mechanical Key

In case of emergency or if the battery is depleted, you can use the mechanical keys:

  1. Insert the mechanical key into the keyhole located on the exterior knob.
  2. Turn the key to unlock the door.

5.4. Auto-Lock Function

In normal operating mode, the door knob will automatically lock approximately 5 seconds after it has been opened, ensuring continuous security.

5.5. Passage Mode

Passage mode allows the door to remain unlocked for continuous access without requiring fingerprint authentication. To activate/deactivate passage mode, refer to the specific instructions provided with your lock, usually involving a combination of button presses or a specific fingerprint sequence. Note: The door will not auto-lock when in passage mode.

5.6. Back Locking Function

The back locking function provides an additional layer of security. When activated, only registered administrators can unlock the door, restricting access for regular users. This feature is typically engaged from the interior side of the knob.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Charging the Battery

The door knob is powered by a 600mAh rechargeable battery. A low-battery alarm will sound to indicate when charging is required. A full charge typically takes 3 hours and can provide up to 6 months of use.

  • Locate the Type-C charging port on the exterior knob.
  • Connect a Type-C charging cable to the port and a power source.
  • The indicator light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Fingerprint not recognized. Finger is dirty, wet, or improperly placed. Fingerprint not registered. Sensor is dirty. Ensure finger is clean and dry. Place finger firmly and completely on the sensor. Re-register fingerprint if necessary. Clean the sensor with a soft, dry cloth.
Low battery alarm sounds. Battery charge is low. Charge the door knob using the provided Type-C cable. Use mechanical keys for access if battery is fully depleted.
Door does not lock automatically. Passage mode is active. Auto-lock feature is disabled. Deactivate passage mode. Ensure auto-lock feature is enabled in settings.
Mechanical key does not work. Incorrect key used. Keyhole obstructed. Ensure you are using the correct mechanical key. Check for any obstructions in the keyhole.
