6. Operating Modes
6.1 Oscilloscope Operation
The oscilloscope function allows for detailed waveform analysis in various applications.

Figure 6.1: Examples of oscilloscope applications, including LIN Bus troubleshooting, audio signal analysis, and power ripple detection.
Normal Trigger Mode
In normal trigger mode, the oscilloscope waits for a trigger event before displaying a waveform. If no trigger event occurs, the screen remains blank or displays the last triggered waveform.
Single Trigger Mode
Single trigger mode is used to capture non-repetitive or transient signals. The oscilloscope waits for a trigger event, captures one waveform, and then stops. This allows for detailed analysis of a single event.
Video 6.2: Demonstrates how to test AC mains, SMPS, and crystal oscillators using the oscilloscope function.
6.2 Multimeter Operation
The integrated multimeter provides 19,999 TRMS counts for various electrical measurements.

Figure 6.3: Multimeter functions including capacitance, resistance, continuity, diode, DC voltage, AC voltage, DC current, and AC current measurements.
Auto Mode
In Auto mode, the multimeter automatically detects the type of measurement and displays the reading, along with max/min values and a data fluctuation curve.
DC Voltage Measurement
Connect the multimeter test leads to the DC voltage source. The device will display the DC voltage reading.
Video 6.4: Demonstrates how to measure battery voltage using the oscilloscope and multimeter functions.
AC Voltage Measurement
Connect the multimeter test leads to the AC voltage source. The device will display the AC voltage reading.
Resistance Measurement
Connect the multimeter test leads across the component to measure its resistance.
Continuity Test
Use the continuity test to check for open or closed circuits. The device will emit a buzzer sound for continuity.
Diode Test
Measure the forward voltage drop of a diode using the diode test function.
Capacitance Measurement
Measure the capacitance of a component by connecting the test leads across it.
DC Current Measurement
For low current (mA range), plug the red probe into the mA port. For high current (A range), switch the red probe to the 10A range. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit to measure DC current.
AC Current Measurement
For low current (mA range), plug the red probe into the mA port. For high current (A range), switch the red probe to the 10A range. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit to measure AC current.
