1. Introduction

2. Product Overview

The EDC17 combines multiple lighting functions with a robust and compact design. Key features include:

3. Setup

3.1 What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your Nitecore EDC17, ensure all components are present:

• EDC17 Flashlight
• USB-C Charging Cable
• Lanyard
• Belt Clip
• Tail Replacement Module

Note: The tail replacement module is for customization or replacement if needed.

3.2 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the flashlight. The EDC17 features a built-in USB-C charging port. Locate the charging port cover on the side of the flashlight, open it, and connect the provided USB-C cable to a power source. The LED power indicator will show charging status.

A full charge typically takes approximately 1.5 hours. The power indicator will show a steady green light when fully charged.

3.3 Attaching the Clip and Lanyard

The included stainless steel clip can be attached to the flashlight for secure carry in a pocket, belt, or bag. The lanyard can be threaded through the designated hole for additional security and ease of access.

4. Operating Instructions

The EDC17 features a dual control interface for intuitive operation.

4.1 Controls Overview

• Slide Switch: Controls power On/Off and adjusts white light brightness levels.
• M Button: Switches between different light sources (White, UV, Green Beam).

4.2 White Light Operation

1. Power On/Off: Slide the switch forward to turn on the white light. Slide it back to turn off.
2. Adjust Brightness: While the white light is on, continue sliding the switch forward to cycle through the four brightness levels (Ultralow, Low, Mid, High). Release the switch at your desired brightness.

4.3 UV Black Light Operation

To activate the UV black light, press the M button. The UV light has three levels. Press the M button repeatedly to cycle through the UV brightness levels. Press the M button again to return to white light or turn off the flashlight using the slide switch.

4.4 Green Beam Operation

To activate the green beam, press and hold the M button. Release the M button to turn off the green beam. The green beam can also be used in combination with the white light for enhanced visibility and pointing.

4.5 Removable Glass Breaking Tip

The EDC17 is equipped with a removable glass breaking tip for emergency situations. This feature is located at the tail of the flashlight. Use with caution and only when necessary.

5. Charging

The Nitecore EDC17 features a convenient USB-C charging system. The recessed and covered charging port ensures protection against water, impact, and dust.

5.1 Charging Process

1. Open the protective cover of the USB-C charging port.
2. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the flashlight and a power source (e.g., USB adapter, computer).
3. The LED power indicator will display the charging status.
4. Once fully charged, the indicator will show a steady green light. Disconnect the cable and close the protective cover.

5.2 Power Indication

The LED power indicator provides real-time battery status:

• 4 Constant-on lights: 75% - 100% battery
• 3 Constant-on lights: 50% - 75% battery
• 2 Constant-on lights: 25% - 50% battery
• 1 Constant-on light: 10% - 25% battery
• 1 Flashing light: <10% battery (Recharge as soon as possible)

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Nitecore EDC17 flashlight.

• Cleaning: Regularly wipe the flashlight body with a soft, clean cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
• Charging Port: Keep the USB-C charging port clean and free of debris. Ensure the protective cover is securely closed when not charging to prevent water and dust ingress.
• Storage: Store the flashlight in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to prolong battery life.

If you encounter issues with your Nitecore EDC17, try the following steps:

• Flashlight not turning on:
  • Ensure the battery is charged. Refer to Section 5 for charging instructions.
  • Check if the slide switch is fully engaged.
• Light output is dim or flickering:
  • The battery may be low. Recharge the flashlight.

• Charging issues:

  • Ensure the charging port is free of debris.
