Setup
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, fill the 34 oz (1.0 L) water tank with fresh water and run a few cycles without any coffee to clean the internal system.
- Water Tank: The removable water tank is located at the back of the machine. Lift it, fill with fresh water, and place it back securely.
- Drip Tray: The drip tray is removable for easy cleaning and can be adjusted to accommodate various cup sizes.
- Cup Height Adjustment: The machine features 3 height settings to accommodate a wider range of cup sizes. Adjust the drip tray to fit your cup.

Brewing Process
- Insert Coffee: Open the machine's head and insert the appropriate adapter for your chosen coffee type (capsule, ESE pod, or ground coffee). Ensure the capsule or ground coffee is correctly placed within the adapter.
- Close Head: Push the adapter into the coffee machine and close the head securely.
- Select Temperature: Use the temperature button on the control panel to select your desired extraction temperature: Red Light (High Temperature), Yellow Light (Medium-High Temperature), or Green Light (Medium-Low Temperature).
- Select Water Volume: Use the water volume selection button to choose from 7 different water levels, customizing the strength and volume of your brew.
- Pre-Soak Function: The machine features a pre-soak mode that enhances the flavor profile of your coffee by uniformly wetting the grounds before full extraction. This function is automatically engaged for optimal results.
- Start Brewing: Press the brew button to start the extraction process. The machine operates at 19 Bar professional extraction pressure for rich flavor.

Maintenance
Cleaning
- Water Tank: The water tank is removable and should be cleaned regularly with mild soap and water.
- Drip Tray: The drip tray is also removable for easy cleaning. Empty and rinse it after each use or as needed.
- Adapters: Clean all coffee adapters and filters after each use to prevent residue buildup and ensure optimal coffee flavor. The item is not dishwasher safe.
Descaling
Regular descaling is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your espresso machine. Follow the descaling instructions provided with your descaling solution, typically every 2-3 months depending on water hardness and usage frequency.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your KOTLIE EM-308B Espresso Machine, please check the following:
- No Coffee Dispensed: Ensure the water tank is filled and correctly seated. Check that the coffee capsule or ground coffee adapter is properly inserted and locked.
