5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your plasma cutter:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Connect Air Filter Regulator: The air filter regulator is pre-installed. Ensure it is securely attached to the machine's air inlet.
  3. Connect Air Supply: Attach the gas hose to the air filter regulator. Connect the other end of the gas hose to a suitable air compressor (recommended ≥750W) capable of providing 30-70 PSI (0.21-0.49 MPa).
  4. Connect Plasma Torch: Securely connect the plasma cutting torch to the designated cutting torch interface on the front panel. Ensure the torch switch socket is also connected.
  5. Connect Ground Clamp: Attach the ground clamp cable to the "+" output terminal on the front panel. Securely clamp the ground clamp to the workpiece or a clean, bare metal part of the work table, ensuring good electrical contact.
  6. Connect Power Cable: Plug the machine's power cable into a compatible 230V power outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

Before operation, ensure all safety precautions are followed and the setup is complete.

  1. Power On: Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position. The LED display will illuminate.
  2. Adjust Current: Use the current adjust knob to set the desired cutting amperage. The maximum output is 60A.
  3. Adjust Air Pressure: Use the pressure adjust knob on the air regulator to set the air pressure between 30-70 PSI (0.21-0.49 MPa) as indicated on the digital display.
  4. Select 2T/4T Mode: Use the 2T/4T toggle switch to select the appropriate mode:
    • 2T (Two-Touch) Mode: Press and hold the torch trigger to start the arc; release to stop. Ideal for short, precise cuts.
    • 4T (Four-Touch) Mode: Press and release the torch trigger to start the arc; press and release again to stop. Suitable for long, continuous cuts, reducing hand fatigue.
  5. Cutting Process:
    • Position the PT31 roller guide on the workpiece.
    • Ensure the ground clamp has good contact with the workpiece.
    • Activate the torch trigger (according to 2T/4T mode). The contact ignition will initiate the plasma arc.
    • Maintain a consistent torch height and travel speed for optimal cut quality.
    • Cut through the material. The machine can cut various metals including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, magnesium alloys, and brass.
  6. Post Air Cooling: After cutting, the machine will continue to blow air for an adjustable period (2-15 seconds, 4-8 seconds recommended) to cool the torch and extend consumable life.
  7. Power Off: Once cutting is complete, turn off the machine and disconnect the power supply.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your plasma cutter.

  • Consumables Inspection: Regularly inspect the torch consumables (electrode, nozzle, shield cup) for wear. Replace them when signs of degradation are visible to maintain cut quality.
  • Air Filter: Periodically check and clean or replace the air filter element in the air regulator to ensure a clean and dry air supply.
  • Cleaning: Keep the machine clean and free from dust and metal particles. Use compressed air to blow out internal components if necessary (ensure power is disconnected).
  • Cable Inspection: Check all cables (power, torch, ground) for damage, cuts, or frayed insulation. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Storage: Store the plasma cutter in a dry, clean environment when not in use.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check the power cable connection, wall outlet, and circuit breaker.
  • No Arc:
    • Ensure the ground clamp is securely attached to the workpiece and has good electrical contact.
    • Check torch consumables for wear and replace if necessary.
    • Verify air pressure is within the recommended range.
    • Ensure the torch trigger is fully depressed (or pressed and released for 4T mode).
  • Poor Cut Quality:
    • Check and replace worn consumables.
    • Adjust cutting amperage and air pressure.
    • Ensure consistent torch height and travel speed.
    • Verify the air supply is clean and dry (check air filter).
  • Air Flow Issues: Check air hose connections for leaks and ensure the compressor is functioning correctly and providing sufficient pressure.
