2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye protection when working with compressed air.
- Ensure the compressed air supply is turned off and depressurized before connecting or disconnecting the hose reel or any air tools.
- Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of 8 bar (116 PSI). The burst pressure is 24 bar (348 PSI).
- Inspect the hose and connections for damage before each use. Do not use if the hose is cut, frayed, or connections are loose.
- Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the work area.
- Mount the hose reel securely to a sturdy wall or ceiling structure capable of supporting its weight and the forces exerted during use.
- Do not attempt to modify the hose reel or its components. Use only original Masko replacement parts.
- Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the hose, especially during retraction, to prevent damage.

4.2 Connecting to Air Supply
- Connect Inlet Hose: Attach your compressed air supply hose to the inlet connector on the side of the hose reel. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
- Connect Air Tool: Attach your air tool to the 1/4" quick connect fitting on the end of the hose reel's output hose.
5. Operating Instructions
The Masko MA-STD-01 features an automatic hose retraction system and a 180° swivel function for ease of use.
5.1 Extending the Hose
To extend the hose, simply pull it out to the desired length. The hose will lock automatically at approximately every half turn. You will hear a click when it locks into position.
5.2 Using the Hose Stop
The adjustable hose stop allows you to set a specific length for the hose to prevent it from fully retracting into the casing. To adjust, loosen the screw on the hose stop, slide it to the desired position, and tighten the screw.

Figure 5.1: Illustration of the automatic hose retraction system and the hose stop. The hose locks at desired lengths, and the stop prevents full retraction, ensuring controlled and tidy hose management.
5.3 Automatic Retraction
To retract the hose, pull it gently until the locking mechanism disengages (you will hear a click), then slowly guide the hose back into the reel. Do not release the hose abruptly, as this can cause damage to the reel or injury.
5.4 180° Swivel Function
The hose reel is mounted on a swivel bracket, allowing it to pivot up to 180°. This provides a wide working radius and prevents the hose from kinking or tangling during use. The swivel action is smooth and allows you to direct the hose precisely where needed.

6. Maintenance and Care
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your Masko hose reel.
- Cleaning: Wipe the casing with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Hose Inspection: Periodically inspect the entire length of the hose for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace the hose if any damage is found.
- Connection Check: Ensure all air connections are tight and free of leaks. Leaks can reduce efficiency and put strain on your compressor.
- UV Protection: The robust plastic casing is UV-resistant, protecting the hose from wear and tear due to sun exposure. However, storing the unit out of direct prolonged sunlight when not in use can further extend its life.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your hose reel, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Hose does not retract fully or smoothly. | Hose is kinked or tangled inside the casing. Spring mechanism is dirty or damaged. | Pull out the entire hose length and gently guide it back in, ensuring no kinks. Clean the hose and casing if visible dirt is present. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
| Air leaks from connections. | Loose connections. Damaged O-rings or seals. | Ensure all connections are tightened securely. Check O-rings and seals for wear and replace if necessary. Use thread sealant tape on threaded connections if needed. |
| Hose does not lock when extended. | Locking mechanism is dirty or worn. | Pull the hose out completely and retract it slowly several times to clear any debris. If the problem continues, contact customer support. |
