9. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and appearance of your SMANOW Running Boards, follow these maintenance tips:

  • Regular Cleaning: Wash the running boards regularly with mild soap and water to remove dirt, mud, and road salt. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Inspect Fasteners: Periodically check all mounting bolts and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary.
  • Check for Damage: Inspect the running boards for any signs of damage, such as dents, scratches, or rust. Address any issues promptly to prevent further deterioration.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the powder-coated finish.

10. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during or after installation, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Problem: Bolts do not thread easily into the vehicle's frame.
Solution: Older vehicles may have rusted or corroded bolt holes. Use a thread tap to clean out the threads before attempting to install the bolts.
  • Problem: Running boards appear loose or unstable after installation.
Solution: Ensure all mounting bolts are fully tightened to the recommended torque specifications. Re-check all connections.
  • Problem: Difficulty aligning the running boards with the brackets.
Solution: Keep all bracket bolts loose until the running board is attached. This allows for minor adjustments before final tightening.
