Cooking Rice

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of uncooked rice. One rice measuring cup is approximately 2/3 U.S. cup.
  2. Wash Rice: Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold running water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
  3. Add Rice to Inner Pot: Place the washed rice into the stainless steel inner pot.
  4. Add Water: Refer to the water line markings inside the inner pot. For white rice, use the corresponding water line for the number of cups of uncooked rice. For example, for 3 cups of uncooked white rice, fill water to Line 2. Adjust water amount based on rice type and desired consistency.
  5. Place Inner Pot: Ensure the exterior of the inner pot is dry, then place it into the main rice cooker unit. Close the lid securely.
  6. Start Cooking: Plug the power cord into a wall outlet. Press the 'Cook' button (usually indicated by a rice grain icon or 'Cook' text). The 'Cook' indicator light will illuminate.
  7. Automatic Keep Warm: Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will automatically switch to 'Keep Warm' mode, and the 'Warm' indicator light will illuminate. This function can keep rice warm for over 24 hours.
  8. Serve: Open the lid carefully to avoid steam. Use the provided rice spoon to fluff and serve the rice.

Steaming

To steam vegetables, fish, or other foods:

  1. Add water to the inner pot (ensure it does not exceed the steamer basket level).
  2. Place the food to be steamed into the plastic steamer basket.
  3. Place the steamer basket into the inner pot.
  4. Close the lid and press the 'Cook' button. Monitor the food and turn off the cooker manually once steaming is complete, or allow it to switch to 'Keep Warm' if cooking rice simultaneously.

Other Functions (Slow Cook, Make Yogurt, Sauté)

The Moosum rice cooker can also be used for slow cooking, making yogurt, and sautéing. Specific instructions for these functions may vary based on recipes. Generally, use the 'Cook' setting for active heating and monitor your food. For slow cooking, the 'Keep Warm' function can be utilized for extended gentle heating after initial cooking.
