  • Do not use appliance for other than intended household use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

Setup and First Use

Before using your SHARDOR Coffee Maker for the first time, follow these steps:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
  2. Clean Components: Wash the glass carafe, reusable filter, and funnel in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Wipe Down: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  4. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
    • Fill the water tank with clean water up to the 8-cup (40 oz) mark.
    • Place the empty reusable filter into the funnel, and position the funnel correctly.
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Press the On/Off button to start a brewing cycle with only water.
    • Allow the cycle to complete. Discard the hot water.
    • Repeat this process once or twice to ensure the appliance is thoroughly cleaned.
  5. Your coffee maker is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill Water Tank: Open the water tank cover and fill the water tank with fresh, cold water to your desired level, indicated by the cup markings (up to 8 cups / 40 oz). Ensure not to exceed the maximum fill line.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter into the funnel. Add your preferred amount of ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup (5 oz) of water, adjust to taste.
  3. Position Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is properly placed on the warming plate.
  4. Start Brewing: Press the On/Off button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
  5. Wait for Completion: The coffee maker will automatically stop brewing once the water tank is empty. The warming plate will keep the coffee warm for a period after brewing.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the carafe from the warming plate and pour your freshly brewed coffee.

Cleaning the Reusable Filter

  • Discard used coffee grounds.
  • Rinse the filter thoroughly under running water.
  • For deeper cleaning, wash with warm, soapy water and a soft brush if necessary.
  • Allow the filter to air dry completely before storing or reusing.

General Cleaning

  • Carafe and Funnel: Wash the glass carafe and funnel in warm, soapy water after each use. They are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Warming Plate: Wipe the warming plate with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits from water can build up in the coffee maker. To descale, fill the water tank with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio). Run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds. Repeat with clean water to rinse. Perform descaling every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
